The FAQS on here isn't really true because people can upload fake stuff on here so the biggest lie is this one "Are these real magic spells? Do they really work?
Yes, these are real spells. These spells are not just made up on the fly, they have been used for hundreds and sometimes thousands of years. Some of these spells have been found in an old Salem library, others were found in old and forgotten towns around eastern Europe. We have tested each of these spells and only include new spells which we have success with." The spells from Charmed and vampire/mermaid spells are that old and all work even with there being like fifty of the same ones?
Back when this site was first created that statement was probably true. However, as time went on youngsters added those spells and it just grew from there.
To my knowledge, only council members and coven leaders can add spells to the site, therefore, you have to put the blame on the Priest/Priestess of the coven to which the member and spell below to. The coven leaders are the ones that need to be going over the spellbooks and editing or deleting any "fluffy" spells not the site administration.
It also has a lot to do with youthful ignorance. When you were young did you know that anything you saw in Charmed, or any other tv series or movie for that matter, wasn't possible? Of course not. When we're young we believe anything is possible. We day dream and hope that one day those dreams will eventually become a reality, no matter how irrational the dream. We need to be taught otherwise or at the very least be allowed to find it out on our own. Thus, this is how you end up with some of the spells that are so plentiful on this site.
i could get in trouble again for saying this but a while back a lot of the old moderators of the site were forsed out by some of the new mderators. i don't know the details first hand, i'm still friends with 3 of the people who were ousted so all i know is their side.
in regards to fluffy spells. yes, it is annoying and i wish we could get them deleted, but only the higher ups in covens can do it. in terms of Spell Casters [i belong to it because i enjoy adding spells] there gimmick is anyone can add spells. there's over 1000 spells in their coven along. think about how much of a pain it would be to go through them all and keep on top of it. use the rule if it's got low stars it's probably a fluffy spell, or ask youraself if a spell could logically work.
not everyone who wants mermaid spells are fluffy, just misguided, kindly explain what magic can and can't do. if they snap back at you, then you can let them have it, but just be calm and explain so they can learn. try and get higher up in your coven so you can help them with the spells. i'd love to lend my time to deleting some myself.
Yes, the majority of the fluffy spells are the fault of the spell casters coven. I think the adminastration would do us all and many members to be a justice by taking it down. And in the meantime they could take down all the spells posted by them. I think there would be very few legit spells among them, As most serious practitioners want a family type coven. In that way they could kill 2 birds with one stone.who thinks we should start a thread where all who want this done could place their desire to do so? maybe we could catch their eye. *Note* please if you find this post hateful and/or offending. please let me know with a legit reason why so i can delete it before any one else is offended.
There are high rated fake spells also like this one that is really making me mad because its so high rated people will believe it

You should understand how the system works. Like with any system there will be human error, it's a fact of life. No one is perfect.
First you should know that administration had once assigned the task of answering FAQs to Editors and Moderators.
Second you should understand that Eds and Mods are regular human beings and like I said, there will be mistakes.
Third you should note that last I understood it was at their discretion to answer or delete FAQs, they don't have to answer them in fact they don't even have to look at them so a few of the FAQs will be opinion based.
All this means that the FAQs are answered by what are first and foremost members of the site just like you and I with their own opinions, perspectives, and perceptions of SoM. If you find something that you don't necessarily agree with, don't be surprised because you won't agree with everything in the world.
If you have a problem with it, eh, just do what you can to explain to beginners that not every single one of our spells are completely legitimate.
