I was looking through the coven's spellbook. I saw hundreds of spells (we're talking at least 200, maybe even more) that were not authentic and I knew wouldn't work for obvious reasons. I've been rating them with a 1 for other people's sake, but it's not good that this coven has so many spells like that. I mean, doesn't it kind of make the coven look bad? I think it does...
Unfortunately, yes it does. However, when this coven is open to anyone and everyone who wishes to join you're bound to have those kinds of spells.
The editors and moderators do what they can, but in the end it comes down to the members themselves. Most of the younger members of the site (and in some cases some of the older individuals as well) have a romanticized view of magic when they come here and seeing those spells doesn't help matters any. They often add to the problem.
I, like you, give such spells low ratings. However, there will also be members or individuals that believe they will work, thus, they will rate them higher. In the end you have a stalemate with no true winner, and those spells and threads regarding them -fantasy spells- still pop up on the site.
My advice, inform members about the facts and explain why such spells wont work. It is, after all, up to the individual as to what they either do or don't believe. I feel, that as knowledgeable members of both the site and the Pagan community, it is our duty to inform and educate others on the truths and falsities of magic. If they learn from it and move forward in the right direction, that's wonderful. If they ignore what we say and continue on in their fantasy, at least we put forth the effort to assist them.
agree for there are many spell on this site tat simply will not work.
i am doing my best to post authentic spell that will work. not the fantasy once that simply will not work. for holly wood staff is simply not passable. for magic is not that simple. it tack understanding and lots of practice and work to be successful to manifesting your needs in this world.
like for example Double The Money spell that i posted on here. you have to pout forth work to gain extra currency. wen you do that then yes you will gain more money than what you have done in the past. for dragon that exist in the astral will not grant money to some one that does not work for it.
yea it sucks but what can you do. i was a member of spell casters for a while, trying to add working spells/rituals and edit the non working spells/rituals. sucks but the label 'Spell Casters' is like wearing a big red A [read The Scarlet Letter] once people see you're a member of Spell Casters your creditability goes down somewhat since most of the spells are non working ones. there's no filter on this site [why i don't know] so it's the first group new members join, and a lot of them had just watched Charmed or something and think that's what magic is so they come here and post whatever spell they can think of. once they find out what real magic is, they get mad and leave [normally] but the spells remain because only Pet can delete a spell and he's busy with many other things.
it is pretty sad we can't go and delete the spells everyone knows won't work, i found one that wasn't a spell but a message to the moderators. honestly the spell section for Spell Casters needs a bunch of work, this whole coven does really, but it's the newbie coven, many people just shoo the new members here to make a mess of things in the hopes eventually they'll get bored and the more serious members go to another coven. all you can do is vote down and spam all non-working spells. not much, but it's all we can do. you could also try adding working spells if you have some to try and counter the non-working spells.
i think what bugs me the most though is the 'fantasy' section, a whole sectioned designed for people to not deal with fluffy spells. what upsets me though is there are working spells in the section, spells that call upon dragons and faeries, and ask for strength from astral beings, but it's chalk full of 'become a vampire' type spells it's hard to defend the few working ones. i know Pet is very busy, perhaps he should let other admin delete fluffy spells, but whatever the case if this is to stop, he needs to sit down and just delete spells [should take about a week] then fix Spell Casters so that not everyone can post spells, say to join you need to take a quiz to test your knowledge, if you pas, you're in the council and can add spells. won't eliminate non working spells,but it would really cut down.
sorry if that came off a little rantie, i didn't mean to, i've talked about this a few times. 'it kind of make the coven look bad' i'm sorry to say it, because i like Spell Casters, i've tried to fix it up, but pretty much everyone on this site doesn't like Spell Casters for the above reasons. if we want that to change, every member has to work together, teach others, and get rid of the non working spells, but also stop fluffies from posting them in the first place.
You are so right i was looking up a spell and found a fantasy werewolf spell that can actually harm or kill someone who proforms this spell slicing thier rist and drain thier blood in a bowl they said you will be nocked of for three hours and wake up a werewolf wanna know why they were nocked out three hours loss of blood wanna know they thought they were werewolves hulusinating from loss of blood someone could die i dont mean to ramble but correct me if im wrong heh
Oh my god that is terrible. :( But anyway i'm trying to add working spells myself to help outweigh the trash... I still find it hard to believe that so many show a lack of common sense, posting the fluffy spells and stuff. :/
well some people do it cuz they're trolls and want to have a laugh, or they saw it in a movie or read it in a book and honestly think it works. i'd report that spell ASAP because it's dangerous, so it takes priority.
Its one thing when a spell is fake, thats just really annoying but you have to question what the people who post spells like that werewolf spell were thinking. Im sure people have tried that and been seriously injured because of it. Posting a fake spell that can seriously harm someone is just unacceptable.
I agree wholeheartedly... I can't imagine what could drive someone to post something that's very harmful and fake... that's terrible... anybody know what this spell was titled? I'll tell the mods...
I agree I sometimes get my Invocations and spells from Books at barnes and Nobles I take a notebook with me and find a spell or a invocation to the gods then I write it down
