Summoning animals

Hi, I just cast my first ever spell today and I was impressed with the results. I am now trying to master this spell: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/spells/spiritual_spells/enchantment_spells/11417/page.html

Is this spell dangerous or scary in any way? Please note, I am 14. I get easily scared by horror films and the sight of blood so I only plan to summon a safe, harmless animal.

From my personal experience you cannot summon animals it this plane of reality although in the astral plane
that spell may work to some extent

You cannot summon "anything you want". That would be simply impossible to do. Animals will not materialize out of thin air for you. I wouldn't waste too much time on spells like these.

Okay, what spells can I rely on?

I'm not going to make a list for you. Just use common sense, maturity, and intelligence when looking at a spell to determine if it is valid or not.

Physical animals aren't summoned. Because they are physical. The magickal action we call 'Summoning' is a spiritual broad phenomenon, and spiritual phenomenons always stay spiritual. Physical animals are physical, and physical objects and living beings always stay physical. Thus, physical animals can't be summoned. There is a big difference between spirituality to physical beings.

If you want to learn something and actually get to know something serious and real about the craft ; what you can do is to call your animal totem / spirit animal which is basically something that many magic practitioners do. This is a spiritual thing (spirit animals are spiritual beings, obviously), thus you can work with them and actually achieve this goal of you attempt to call you spirit animal and find your totem animal. This is not a part of the broad term summoning though, because that is a polite invitation.

On the contrary, summoning by traditional value means to bring forth or call. Physical animals can be summoned in similar ways to that of spirits or entities however their method of arrival is more likely to be walking/swimming/flying/whatever.

All in all you can summon animals. The biggest difference is that they don't appear out of thin air unless you're appealing to a spirit of an animal or previous animal.
