Pendulum help?

Hello,
I just got a pendulum and a mat today at a new age store. Ive looked up a little on Divination and I was just wondering can you contact spirits and if so how?

yes you can but make sure your pendulum is cleans and charged and you can ask the spirits yes or no questions just call on any spirit and ask away

Do I have to cast a circle and call the quarters every time i use it?

Depends what you feel comfortable with or what your using it for, if your contacting the spirit realm I would suggest you do. But I would suggest doing more research first just to be safe :)
