Dream Interpretation

Hey all. I need help with interpreting an odd dream that I have recently had. The dream came in two parts, the first part I dreampt maybe a few days up to a month ago, I don't quite remember. I had gotten a snowy white owl as a pet and I was keeping it in a large wire cage. I adore owls and I was extremely happy to have this one in my care. Later I went to a pet store and found a new cage for the bird. At the time in the dream it seemed logical, but instead of a cage it was a wooden bird house with no windows or air holes. It was shaped like a house and was white with a blue roof. I put the owl into the cage and didn't dream any more about it until the second part of the dream.

In the second part I had completely forgotten about the bird. It never made any sound, and since it was out of sight inside of the wooden house I had forgotten to feed it for months. I hurried to go and see if it was still alive to see if I could save it, but I found the cage coated with what seemed to be fecal matter and the once alive adult owl was now a dead baby owl with no feathers. It was then I noticed how small the bird house was for the bird and how the wood didn't allow for air holes except for the small round door.

Any ideas? This has been the most vivid and horrifying dream I have had in a really really long time.

I would interpret it as:

The owl = your heart or spirit
The cage/house = Maybe family-- or even outside the home, the 'place' you've made for yourself, the crowd or environment you've made routine

Maybe you feel more ambitious than others can trust you with, in a 'cage' smaller than is healthy for you and that is stifling (no air holes). The adult owl turning into a baby owl could warn of regressing in a neglectful environment-- from someone who could have been confident and secure, ready to fly, to someone who depends too much on other people's opinions for confidence or direction, and takes too much figurative fecal matter.

Just my interpretation, could be wrong since dream symbols can be very personal. But, hope this helped.

Hi baby girl!

Ok, here is what I have come up with so far,

Snowy White Owl -
White = purity, perfection, peace, innocence, dignity, cleanliness, awareness, and new beginnings.
Owl = wisdom, insight and virtue.
Bird Cage = loss of freedom, feeling locked up and unable to fully express yourself.
White and Blue Birdhouse -
White = purity, perfection, peace, innocence, dignity, cleanliness, awareness, and new beginnings.
Blue = truth, wisdom, heaven, eternity, devotion, tranquility, loyalty and openness. Blue may also symbolize your spiritual guide and your optimism of the future. Clarity of mind.
Birdhouse = you see your home as your own spiritual haven. May need to pay more attention to your spiritual side and work on developing it.
Forgetting - forgetting about something like an animal is a type of abandonment
Abandonment = to abandon others in your dream, suggests that you are overwhelmed by the problems and decisions in your life.
Feces - signifies aspects of yourself that are dirty or negative which you believe to be undesirable and repulsive. You need to release the negativity in your life.
Dead Owl = Can be seen as a symbolic death, as in an important transition in life.

So, here goes with my interpretation:

Your snowy white owl in the first cage is you my dear child. You were full and fresh for your new beginnings, knowing that you will not be fully able to express yourself while living with your father. But you are wise, insightful, innocent and pure.

Then you placed yourself in the blue and white birdhouse, which again was fine, the birdhouse was your home (or your “place”) of sanctuary to work on your spiritual self.

Forgetting to feed the owl, well you have been very overwhelmed by problems and decisions! You need to learn to release the negative energies around you, so they won’t be adding to your feelings of being overwhelmed. You have to keep in mind; you are going through a BIG life transition right now.

I'm gonna have to agree with your mum on this Peaceriver. She pretty much hit it on the head. The only addition I have for what she said is the interpretation of the birdhouse. Yes it seeems it may be your haven and what not, but the fact that it's small and has no windows or airholes...It probably symbolizes like the cage, the inability to express yourself and release the negative energy, like your mum said. But other than that, I have no other comments.

Wow. Though Mom purty much made a bulls eye on it, both Wing and Skylark added good comments. Right now I am in a very tight position- Staying in an extended stay hotel room about the size of a regular hotel room with six people and one cat. We are like sardines. And to make it worse, my stepmum is having a hard time accepting that I am part of the family now and have always been, even though I didn't live with them before. Dad and I both feel as if we are disconnected from the 'family', and while he is trying to change that I feel like there is nothing I can do and I usually try to stay hidden. I feel like if I keep doing this a regression is highly possible.

Well, I guess that settles what I need to do. I have to stop letting her words get to me and work on improving myself. I have needed to improve spiritually for a long time, so it looks like now is as good of a time as ever. Thanks everyone.

Love you, Mom!

To Aeons_Wing and Turtlegirl:

You both explained it very well. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with dream explanation and I cannot help you Peaceriver. But if you need anything else I will help you if I can.
