A traditional southern jinx involves the preparation of an egg from a black hen. This egg is, by nature, in connection with Papa Legba, Eshu, The Man at the Crossroads, (and on go his names), as black hens are one species closely related to him.

Before you begin, you will want to fix the egg to its purpose. Write the name of the target in black on the egg and state aloud its purpose. Lightly crack open one end of the egg (uncooked) making an opening around the size of a nickel.

Into this sprinkle ash, red pepper, maggots, sulfur powder, snake fangs, or feces into this cavity. With some words of a malignant nature, hurl the egg at the target’s doorstep, that they may stumble upon it as soon as they leave or return to the house. Pray and offer to Legba that they will suffer according to your specifications.
