Need a good herb book...

Can anyone recommend a good herb book? Preferably one with depth for each herb. I've been reading this one book (can't remember the name at the top of my head right now) and it listed a fairly good amount of herbs & spices but it lacks a few of the very common herbs and spices. I'm looking for one that pretty extensive with the properties, uses, what it's element is, what planet it's ruled by, it's binomial (Latin) name... What I like about the herb chapter in this book is that it doesn't just have one word for what the herb is for. IE: "Angelica - protective." Instead it goes on and says: "Protective, especially for children, when worn as an amulet & can be grown in the garden to protect both garden & home. It's also believed to give long life & protection against illness." Does such a book exist, or am I getting my hopes up to high & just need to do some grunt work and look each one up? TIA! =)

I have found that looking for a book like this may never come. But you can research the herbs and spices, or even gems and other materials, and put all of them in a binder. You could print out pages with images or hand write it. It may be a lot of work but it will pay off.

I hope this helped.

I had a feeling it was going to be that way, it just confuses me when one book says one thing and another something else. Like one will say allspice is ruled by Jupiter and then in another by Mars.

If you are looking for a good herb book, there is only one that comes to mind. Encyclopedia of herbs by Scott Cunningham. To my knowledge there is no better book for herbalism out there. It has absolutely everything you want in it :)

Magical Herbalism by Scott Cunningham. It's very insightful and gives you a list of herbs and their properties in the end of the book. It also teaches you how to use them which is resourceful.
