It also may be beneficial, and indeed fun, to look up the types of stones, herbs, and crystals that may be found around your area and learning how to find them. When I was young, I used to spend hours on end searching through rocks, digging in the dirt, and keeping and eye out for pretty stones. Though I mostly just found quartz, I did manage to find some moon rocks, and a few arrow heads. I still keep a look out for rocks, you never know what you will find. I have once found an area covered in small pieces of obsidian, how they got there I'll never know, but its those times that make the search for them so precious.
