Religion over Science?

I'm meaning this as a sort of poll. How many on this site view magic as a science (Atoms, energy, etc.) and how many view magic as a religion of sorts? Or is it a mixture of the two? I'd love to hear your point of view.

I consider it more an art than a science. It can't be measured, and it's not completely objective since sometimes you have to believe before seeing-- disbelief can actually nullify it, which wouldn't happen with scientific things.

At the same time, when I think "magician" I see the tarot magician: awakened the courage to think for himself, to act from will more than influence or anyone else's command, with the laws of the world neatly laid out to him. Someone, basically, with a temperament closer to that of the scientist than a deacon. It's not belief alone that makes magic, so I don't consider it a religion.

Magic is a science and an art form. The healing arts are based in science and that goes for herbal healing as well. It is an understanding of the chemical reaction of the body to herbs. As for other forms of magic it is an art form and a science as well to know how, when, and why to do a spell. There is a formula for spell work. Sure many feel it is just about the minds ability to manipulate energy, however it really goes far beyond that. Knowing under what moon, the order of actions, and which ingredients to use for a spell are key to being successful.

As for religion, it is really up to the person to put religion into magical practice. I personally feel you need to have the beliefs to understand the science behind it. Then again I also feel this way about all science. For science is just man's way of learning about the world around him, but it will never explain why we are here or what the purpose to life is.

Magick is science as it is religion.
Religion is to believe and science is to observe, experiment and descibr. Some see science as a art in occasions, same goes with beliefs.. ^_^ so, it is art as well. Since art implies an expression from the artist and a delicacy to the audience. It is simple.. Magick is just nature itself.

i beleive it is a belief. science is objective, it has clear results that happen no matter what.

magick is not science in my book, its a belief of a method to cause change, like science, but not exactly science.
