What do crows/ravens represent in dreams?

Im a complete newbie but i think crows might represent a plague or something that takes away what you have (i.e a scavenger).

At any rate it probably means something or nothing at all depending on the context.

What did the crow do in the dream?

Well which was it a raven or a crow? Your feelings towards these animals coupled with your whole dream needs to be taken into consideration when interpreting the dream.

Crow: death and the darker aspects of your personality. Alternatively it could be conveying a message if it speaks or is holding something. There are other meanings depending on how you interacted with the bird.

Raven: another death symbol. Misfortune, heartache, sickness, sorrow, melancholy. It could also be a warning someone is taking advantage of you if you are currently going through a loss.

Very general interpretations, again, the dream as a whole is needed.

Ravens in some cultures are evil; it's the same for crows in others. For the most part that's because of medieval superstitions and misconceptions, but these birds are hunters and scavengers. They mostly scavenge and forage but have been known to kill their prey as well. Some see crows and ravens as birds of wisdom or the night. It all depends on your views and the context of the dream.

Ravens and crows are highly spiritual creatures in Native American lore. Shamans regard them in great respect as they are the messengers of the spiritual realm. They will guide you on your magical paths and help you find your way. If its in your dreams it could me that someone on the spiritual plane or maybe even a Deity is trying to send you a message.
In Norse lore the Raven is regarded with just as much respect, as they are not only a sign that Odin (Wodin)was near, but that they were the epitome of wisdom.
In Irish mythology, crows are associated with Morrigan, the goddess of war and death.In Sweden, ravens are held to be the ghosts of murdered men. In Denmark, the night raven is considered an exorcised spirit.In Australian Aboriginal mythology, Crow is a trickster, culture hero, and ancestral being.Crows are also considered ancestors in Hinduism .

I think we all say the same thing, crows represent stuff and we need the whole dream to conclude this discussion

But let me go one step further

@AndewtheRew, in the dream i had a pet crow or raven, not entirely sure which one, it was kind of hazey, it was set in my house and it would land on my arm when i called it. the day after i had this dream, i had a dream about snakes crawling around my house, one large one and one small. they were both fairly dark feeling dreams, the snake one more so though.

Well it seems to me that the crow represents something that is bad (Duh!)
So 2 possible meanings

It either means that something bad is there that disguises itself as if it is under your control, but it really leads to your doom

Or that there is something evil but you have controlled it and bound it under your will.

I agree with Andrew, but another option could be a close friend with ill intentions for you. You and the crow have a bond, it's in your house, comes when you call, but you feel a dark energy to the dream. It could be someone you considecons a friend but they could be plotting, probably against you. Think of your friends, is there one who is known to harm others, gossip, or 'stir the pot'? This dream could be telling you to keep one eye open.

Oh ok thanks, that representation fits right into my situation but im kind of hoping im not leading to doom :P
