I have decided to post a bit about elemental Magic. Most of the information I give would be from personal workings, so I can give effective info. I would talk more of the lines how it can be used, both for good, and not so good things. However, I would like to know who would be interested.
I will make several threads regarding each element starting with water. As a note, I will speak a lot of the uses I had from this type of magic.
Elemental Magick
I will start off with water.
Water is the most influential element over living beings. Without it, the world would be a dry, lifeless rock. Because of this, spells involving water will have a great affect on all living things. In this article, I will speak of how water can be used, how I've used it before. And the spirits and other correspondents involving this element.
Out of the four elements, water can be the most gentle. It can be used to calm and soothe matters. However, like the other elements, it has another side. While water can travel in a serene stream, it can also flow through a rapid waterfall, so water's uses can be for creation, or destruction. To bless or curse.
Catholicism is iconic when it comes to holy water, but the idea isn't just exclusive to Christianity. In some cultures, rainwater would be seen as holy, so would water from a spring, river or any other source. However, if you think about it, couldn't all water be considered holy water? Indeed, but you could 'activate' the water to get a desired result.
Charging Water
Think of a still pond. It looks tranquil, peaceful, and all calm. Throw a pebble in the pond, and you make ripples these ripples transfer energy through the surface, interfering with the vibrations of the still pond. The idea here is that as water moves, you shift the vibrations of the water, elevating it's potential in Magic. This exercise both helps you witness the charge, and gives you water charged for Magic.
Get two cups, one with water, the other empty. Just in case, get a towel or a bunch of napkins should you accidentally spill anything. Hold both cups in each hand, and start pouring the water from one cup to the other. As you do this, pay attention to the feeling you get, and make any other observation as you do this. Keep transferring the water as many times as you like, but do at least try it for five times. The water's vibrations should feel different.
Water is in great ties with the moon, so going through the moon phases in spells. Healing, divination, and cursing are one of the few things water controls. If this catches up, I'll put more spells involving water.
To Heal Through Water
Have a bowl of water at your disposal and is best done outside.
Put your left hand over the bowl, and the right hand at your heart, and with a clear intention, say:
"Water I awaken thee, water flow through me,
I have an illness that must be healed. With your cleansing current, let this will be sealed"
If healing yourself, dab a finger in the water and trace a circle on your forehead. Do this once a day for nine days and throw the water where you cast the spell, thanking the Earth and water. If healing another, do the same thing except on their foreheads.
To be continued...
Adding on to Water
War Water
The concept of war water can be categorized as a Hoodoo concept, but calling it an authentic Hoodoo formula would be controversial, as it is more based on European stuff than anything else. However, this type of water is still used by a big number of Rootworkers and others. The basic work of war water is to curse, break curses, and such. It also acts as an aggressive form of holy water. The recipe seems different everywhere I look, so I'll give the most basic method on making a jar.
Things you'll need:
A glass jar with a good air-tight lid
About three rusty nails (really the number shouldn't matter in my opinion, but put as many as you feel right)
Water
Of course, there are many other ways to make it, with different ingredients and stuff, but as I said, this is a simple one that has helped me so far.
The water should be in the jar, and place the nails inside. Close the jar tightly, and keep it in a place where there is no light. At this point, you bring it out anytime you need it. Keep a close eye on the nails though. If they start molding, the water goes bad, so throw it out. You can put nails in the water if they haven't oxidized yet, and they'll rust on their own.
Remember that war water can be used for many things, not just cursing. Breaking curses and hexes are also done with it, as well as cleansing and even strengthening oneself if one experiments with it. As one might guess, the war water is exactly for fighting all manner of things. Banishing has worked well when I use it. If anyone wants to add to this, or correct me for a mistake, by all means do it!
Note: D.J. Conway's "Mystical Dragon Magick" helped me look further into the concept of magical water. She is a controversial author, but her work helped me start off.
