I'm not sure where to post this...and think it's the right forum, so here goes:
To the many many users who have sent me messages about my eye color on my profile picture:
No, I am not a mythical creature- nor can I turn you into whatever it is you think I am.
No, I have not used a spell to change them to the color you see. Not to be the bearer of bad news but that's not possible...
No, dears, I am not a vampire- and neither are you. If you have the genetic disorder people generally associate with vampirism, I'm sorry, that is just awful. And no, before anyone asks, if isn't contagious so you can't get a person with the disorder to infect you.
My darlings, they're contact lenses. They can be procured almost anywhere. I'm sorry to have to tell you that you aren't speaking to a super cool non-human.
I'm a who, not a what.
I'm Jen. Just Jen. Nice to meet you :)
If you continue to get these kinds of messages, it is usually in best interest to block people who ask you these things. You can also state in your profile that such messages will be blocked or deleted.
I would post this on your profile. That should cut down on these types of questions. If anyone messages you about it even after you post this on your profile, you should block them.
On a side note, they are nice, are they contacts? [A friend of mine has worn purple ones for so long I can't remember her actual eyecolour]
Yeah they are. I have a ton of them, and thanks! I just started getting these messages today. After reading the first few I was like "really? Are they kidding me right now?!?!" I was asked if I was a vampire, an elf, a fairy, a zombie... I mean, I wish, but no. Then the obvious course of conversational direction was to assume I had 'spelled' my eyes white. At first I laughed...then I got concerned! Lol these young'uns need some direction!!!
This has to be one of the best posts I have ever seen on the site. Normally, people try to play into it. I would block them as well. Best of luck, again, great post.
I like your profile picture. I've always liked the look of brilliantly colored contact lenses, but not enough to stick a foreign object in my own eyeballs. I'm eye squeamish. Show me anything but something poking an eyeball and I'm pretty okay with it. =P
I,too, like your eyes! I like people, especially the young, showing their "individuality"; tattoos, hair dyes, etc. It shows "eccentricity"; and here in Britain we absolutely love eccentrics!
Individuality is probably my favorite part of life. Before I started teaching I was, and still am from time to time should the mood strike me, a tattoo and scarification artist. The last piece I did was the Druidic life tree, for scarification anyway. My husband and sister regularly engage my tattoo skills for something or other they absolutely MUST have :)
It's the small things that make me happy, things a little outside the box, something so simple as a brightly colored tattoo sleeve or different eyes.
Lots of people are squeamish about contacts! But having 5 children (really, in comparison to children nothing can gross me out anymore!) and dealing with the...um...undesirable parts of body modifications it just takes a lot to bother me. Thanks though, guys!
