necromancy

hi I was wondering if there was anyone who could give me advice on necromancy :) I have been interested in it and want to learn the basics thanks for any help :)

Necromancy is very advanced stuff in my opinion but maybe you should tell people what you know already because its not like on TV and isn't where you can tell spirits to do what you want

Your profile is empty you may want to add stuff to your bio because we don't know what your trying to practice,how long you practiced and its hard to do that

What necromancy is and isn't.

Necromancy is communication, evocation, interaction, and divination with spirits of the dead. It's roots lie in ancestor worship and funerary rites and every culture has it's own ways. The oldest form of necromancy was practiced by the medicine people and shamans of tribes. Greek and Egyptian practices influenced modern ceremonial magick methods.

Necromancy is not the manipulation of "death energy" like the video games. In fact, it has nothing to do with that at all. Anyone that works with the lower worlds understands that death is not a state of being but a passage from one existence to the next. You do not need to wear all black, you won't become pale, and you definitely don't need to hang out in cemeteries.

Eliphas Levi was a famous CM necromancer and he wrote many books.

I recommend Transcendental Magic. It is not a beginner's book. It is dense and read like a real magick book should, not the watered down info in modern literature.

If you have no experience in magick, than I suggest you hold off on necromancy and ceremonial magick. Learn the basics of magick itself first. Many people have good things to say about Modern Magic by Kraig.

To second what WhiteRav3n said, if you are just starting out and are interested in a ceremonial magic type path, which necromancy could certainly follow, Modern Magic by Don Kraig would be a great place to start. It will give you a firm foundation in Golden Dawn/Thelema style magical practices. It is for the most part free of fluff. At least the first and second editions were. I have yet to read the third edition which has additional chapters in it. My recommendation would be if you use it to at least double the amount of time in the lessons. (They are set up for one lesson a year.) At least through the first 7, which correspond to the elemental grades of the G.D. IF you were in the G.D. it would take about 6 months per grade at a minimum. Those things really should not be rushed. As always, just my advice.

I've found out their is another form of the art called "Saturnine Necromancy" dealing with the dead,death magick,gods of death,other outwordly enities that aren't human, and dealing with planet Saturn.

I know nothing about necromancy but i have a question. Does it have any similarities with communing with spirits? I have done this many times but i do not do so lightly. its kind of hard to describe the way i am able to commune with them. i have always had a very strong gift of sensing Auras and energies. when i commune with spirits its usually, well the best i can describe, like sending energy impressions back and forth. im not sure if that is an apt description but its the best way i can describe it personally. anyone who can answer this question please send me a message on my profile. simply due to the fact i dont really browse through the forums on a regular basis. thanks and blessed be to all. by the way just so you know i am a Solitary Hellenic.
