Hi my name is Lethe/Dire (he/him or it/its pronouns only please)and I'm an aspiring witch. I really mean aspiring because I've had some trouble getting started. I'm mentally ill, disabled, living in a very anti-witchcraft environment, and on a low budget. I've started a witchcraft diary/spellbook to help me out because my memory is unfortunately very bad, and I've found some resources for witches in my kind of situation! Still I was hoping to find a community of witches who could maybe give me some tips and help me along on my journey to becoming a witch, I'm hoping this is the right place to look. I would love to get to know some people and hear some words of advice or encouragement!

Welcome to the community. Witchcraft doesn't require fancy tools. The only thing I really spend money on for specific rituals are herbs and offerings. I like to make most of my other items by hand which makes them extremely inexpensive. What form of witchcraft do you practice?
still trying to figure that out to be honest with you! originally i wanted to do astral work but im not sure if i'm cut out for it :s, and i've only done a couple of simple spells here and there (charming a necklace, money spell)
Just like any belief system or religion, it is always meant to cater to the believer. If your gods or beliefs make you uncomfortable or do things you don't want to do, you don't have worship them or believe. Because the biggest lesson in witchcraft is belief and faith have power. If you live in an anti witchcraft environment you don't have to do something that could bring harm to yourself. But if you do believe, just like pagans from the past and present you can hide it in everyday things like your garden as your altar.
I have had to try to pick a path to work with.
Lots of free book's online, and if you are into Traditional Witchcraft,I have many.
I am disabled.
I have had to learn that magic is a long study, and the real thing has nothing to do with Harry Potter,or any of that TV stuff written by writers and not witches.
But if you want to learn the old way message me.

Hey, welcome to the site! I'm a mentally ill witch as well, and don't have lots of opportunities to get supplies. My advice is just to keep writing in your grimoire! Simple stuff like correspondences and recording dreams goes a long way, especially for lucid dreaming and astral projection! If you happen to choose a path involving deities, remember that you can do as much or as little as you want with them. Honoring them in little ways is enough, and they'll understand your situation :-)
