Couldn't move physically

So I was practicing astral projection, and when I tried coming back I couldn't move my body for a few minutes. It took that long to get back into my body and then I could move. I was wondering if that's normal? And if your physical self becomes paralyzed when you astral project? Thanks.

It sounds like sleep paralysis -- not that you were asleep.

One of the ways astral projection works is by putting the body to sleep, while the consciousness remains alert, and the person journeys. Were the body 'awake,' you would be too aware of your surroundings to be away, so to speak.

Sleep paralysis is fairly common, and it sounds like you had a mild experience compared to some people, who awake from REM sleep, with their brains still firing off dream-like hallucinations and conjuring any image of what may possibly be causing their inability to move.

Ah okay, thank you. I was wondering if that was the case because I read that astral projection and sleep paralysis are closely linked.
