I was thinking about love spells for some reason I don't know and something crossed my mind, now these days many people while they are casting a love spell they often use red/pink candle, photos or paper only with name and birth and meditation.
Then! I thought if someones going to cast a love spell then what happends if she/he uses hers and his DNA? Now I believe that name and a piece of paper and a candle isn't enough.. Maybe it is, not sure but did the witches use DNA in the old ways and what do you guys think about using DNA in a spell would it work 100% with more effects than just a candle etc.
What about using a picture of the caster and the crush, it seems strong too?
(This is a discussion, not asking for help. Just thinking this was a interesting subject)
It is an interesting topic, and is often discussed. The use of DNA or bodily fluids (from spit, hair, to more grody things) can be used in spells not just for love, but for any subject of spells. Secondly, you've probably heard that no spell is going to work 100% of the time, and that's why tools are used to inhance spellwork. Using DNA and/or bodily fluids ties your spells back to you, and enhances them in a way.
What Theia said is true.
From a personal PoV, most of Caribbean lore and Craft had always believed that the use of DNA strengthens the spell. Weather it's by creating an exact bond or direction of who is affected/effected, or because it accesses the energy more directly- thats all speculation and varies. The belief tho is very wide spread.
you can use DNA. pink/red candles for example is used because red/pink is typically seen as a colour associated with love, but it's not universal. i know people who work with chakra's and use green as this is the colour of the heart chakra. a picture, full name and birthday [again, optional] helps specify who you are casting over. using hair, nails, spit, blood, or other parts of the person [even using a piece of clothing they wear] further specifies things because it has their energy in them.
of course these are all optional. if you can visualize this person, you can simply direct energy, visualize the two of you together, and perhaps say a chant [but the chant isn't even set in stone]
that's more of a voodoo/hoodoo practice, you might have better luck asking in that forum section. personally i've never used things of this nature since my spell casting is almost always for me i don't see much need to use DNA [and i don't practice blood magick because i typically pass out due to pain, i wouldn't want to pass out in the middle of a spell lol... though one could use menstrual blood i don't want to.] point is i don't have any hands on experience, only what's i've read in books.
I've definitely used DNA in spells before, and that's why I can personally say that it strengthens your intent and ties it to you stronger. It's like saying "this spell is mine and ties it back to me ".
