So, it's been a solid couple of years since this happened, and I've done a lot of speculating since then. I'm going to begin with this. I'm a logical person and I understand that certain things are possible and certain things are not. This is the part where I don't want to here, "It was a demon," unless you have some sort of really solid evidence for that.
I'll set the scene. I'm at a friend's house. I'm sitting in their room speaking to them, and I happened to glance over at the door. What I saw genuinely terrified me, and I will describe it to the best of my abilities.
It didn't have any apparent color, and was mostly transparent. It had no facial features, nor clothing, nor genitals. Not even ears, to my recollection. It looks horrifically thin, but it wasn't bony. It looked like it was naturally emaciated thin, if that makes any sense? Smooth bends at the shoulders and such.
From this, what I thought is that, perhaps, someone had died there and that was the lingering energy that was left behind. Just playing repeat. In my eyes, that would explain the appearance. It was energy that was slowly dispersing over possibly decades, so that would explain why it looked grossly thin, and still didn't look bony.
I'd take this and run with it, but there is something else that throws me off.
It's how I felt when I made that would-be eye contact with it. I felt this horrible dread. It was so much foreboding, fear, sadness- a wash of negativity and I can say that the moment I laid eyes on it, I began sobbing hysterically. I closed my eyes and whipped my head away, and the second I did, all of the feelings went away. And it was just gone and to this day, roughly five years later, I've never seen anything like it.
So as a quick recap, it was a grossly thin, partially transparent apparition (??) that left me riddled with absolute misery until I looked away. Does this match any sort of a description to anything? Could it have been energy from a deceased individual and I was just picking up their life's negativity somehow? Or could it have been a sort of spiritual parasite? Or perhaps something else entirely?
The only thing I will add is this. Notably, after seeing this thing, their house burned down. A rat bit into a wire in the walls, apparently, and burnt the house down. I only add it as I assume there are things that bring misfortune with them.

I don't think it was a demon, but it sounds like a spirit, a negative one at that, since you felt negativity when you looked at it, it sounds like it had a horrible life while it was alive. Do you know if there was any deaths at your friends house? Did you research the house? I also believe when you see a spirit that brings dread over you, it's a sign something bad will happen, which it did, her house burnt down.
Since you said it looked naturally emanciated thin, my guess is the spirit was starved or starving for positive energy, and it was feeding off of your energy while you looked at it, which is why you felt negative, sad, fear, and foreboding. Spirits that feed off energy, are usually bad, and hard to banish in my opinion.
not all spirits have color, some will be transparent, some are shadow people, sometimes there are spirits that are just orbs or white lights.
I'm sure you will have better answers than mine, but this is just what I think.
I agree with ShadowCasts. Doing research on the house, it's history, any deaths, etc.. is a good idea.
However i must disagree, when you see a spirit it's not a sign that something bad will happen. There are spirits everywhere, many different types of spirits with different types of interactions. Most spirits just walk by us and ignore us and we ignore them. Sometimes when a spirit brings dread over you, it's not actually a bad sign, lots of times the spirit is just confused and, in the end, it will " turn good ".
When a spirit shows itself to you, it's because it wants something, All spirits feed of energy, even good ones. Demons & any negative spirit feed off your energy, your fear, your sadness, your problems etc.. Spirits from a more friendly nature feed off your energy, but they aren't like leaches, they just feed of your energy so they can tell you something. Most times it's warning, but there are a lot of reasons as to why a spirit would reveal itself to you.
I agree once again, it being thin might tell us that he died starving ( if it was human ). However, normal spirits that only wish to communicate and not cause harm, do not make you feel fear. Negative spirits always cause or try to cause fear, because they feed off of it. If you felt fear, it terrified you and you even started sobbing, it was probably not from a kind nature.
When you pick someone's negativity, it doesn't take form. You just feel the ambience rather heavy, you know something's off, or you even feel what they feel.
it was more than likely a spirit that you saw and it problem absorbed a lot of negativity from a life it lived and the last moments of that life were probably spent in that house
