hey, so i was going through all the latest uploads on youtube and one person i follow did a video about a spell that has apparently been making the rounds.
this spell is a binding spell to stop the trump administration from attacking minority groups and it is to be cast every month on the waning crescent moon until he is removed from office [so the first cast is tonight at midnight EST] it is not a spell to harm him or those in his administration, but to stop them from doing terrible things [repeating history for example]
i bring this up for a couple reasons, mainly do you think this is right or wrong? personally while i think it would be an amazing experience to join in with so many, it walks a fine line. historically it is said a coven of witches cast a protective cone/circle around Britain so no soldiers landed on British soil, but this is on a specific person to stop acting a certain way, and to be kicked out of office. do you think this is petty, important, or something in between? [and for the record, i'm not participating. while it would be cool to be a part of something so large, i'd rather do a protection over a binding]
[p.s. if you don't want politics on the site, just delete this post, i don't want politics here but it's a big pagan event so i figured why not?]
I also heard about this, and I'm afraid I won't be participating. While I can approve of the concept, I don't think a binding is the way to go, nor should we be appealing to the forces at work to remove him from office. If anything, we should all be doing honey jars or something. He's already president, we might as well try to help him rather than hinder him.

The same sort of action was taken by the Witches/Wiccans of Britain in preventing Hitler's forces of invading England. Such actions, taken for the protection of those threatened by the actions of some were never taken as being inappropriate. But this is truly a matter for the individual conscience of the Witch.
Personally I believe that we have an obligation to protect those who are at risk of harm.
I agree with you, Lark. So we should be doing a giant protection spell, not a binding on Trump. Let's put our energy into good will toward those affected instead of trying to change a person because we don't like him and what he's doing.
I personally think it's a bit weak. In my opinion, cursing is the way to go if you are serious about stopping something or someone. I love how it's gotten a lot of press.
I think he deserves much worse so I think a binding is pretty tame. Binding, cursing, protection, whatever gets the job done. I'm not too picky and personally I really like the idea. I hadn't heard about it until late so I likely will not be participating.
Personally, I feel that situations like this call for old fashioned elbow grease. If you care about immigrants, get out there and work in your community. Contact your lawmakers and see what can be done.Give your time, money and effort to your cause. Become an activist. I am not saying that people should not cast spells if they feel led to it. I just think there is a lot of other work to be done, too.

i agree a protection for those groups at risk would be better, but i can see why one would choose to bind the administration and its followers from doing further harm. [just not my cup of tea] there's a lot of positive things one could do [donate to charities helping minority groups, petitions, protest, and many different spells] i just feel we could do something different as a community. too many people reacting with emotions.
@ EliDark i doubt we'll ever be taken seriously. so many people cling to the pop culture image of witches, not to mention certain loud members of our community love to shoot ourselves in the foot. take the Fox News thing from a few years ago [refresher: Fox and Friends said insulting things about pagans] the number of people who bragged how they would curse them kind of did a one step forward two steps back motion to the whole 'take us seriously' fight.

It's interesting to see such a large spell casting and group effort yet I have to wonder about the motives as well as methods. I have no love for this administration but while protecting people from harm is one thing this sounds like it would be filled with a lot of negative emotion & intent. I'm not certain how many people would be doing this out of a sense of wanting to protect people vs petty reasons plus the part about trying to get them thrown out of office seems like is going to far. I'm also a big supporter of free will and not a fan of spells that go against it in such a major way. I'm all for protection spells, a spell to disperse anger & negative emotions, etc...but I'm not for what feels like a magick based attack on someone despite the term binding not sounding quite as bad to the ear. I wish we could pour our energy into positive results though I also fear where the future is headed.
