If it is a wild animal, do not keep it as a pet, it is not where it belongs.

Yes people do keep them as pets, but they are often bred to be kept by humans, often for homing purposes or when they are highly injured and are unable to return to the wild they are kept by humans to give them some life even if they cannot be wild.
