I am thinking of getting started with magic. As I have read, Onyx offers protection from bad tings. It is even said to offer protection from black magic. I am just curious to know - if Onyx offers protection against black magic attacks, does it also prevent me from using black magic in case I decide to use that in future?
Other question is that Onyx is said to reduce sexual desire, however I did not understand if it only reduces unhealthy sexual desire or does it also kill healthy sexual desire? Like my wife could walk naked if she wanted and I wouldn't even care because Onyx reduced my sexual desire so much that I am immune to everything that this world has to offer me?
The answer to first question is no. Onyx cannot stop you from casting any type of magic. In fact, I doubt any stone can do half of what is claimed they can if someone has not charged them to do so. Which also answers your second question, it can only diminish your desire if you want it to.
It is bit unclear what you mean by half of what is claimed? Do you mean that the half of properties dont exist at all OR that they have all the claimed properties but they are just so weak that I only get half of the effect that I expect?
It is also unclear to me what do you mean by "if someone has not charged them to do so". Can I add new properties to stines myself via some magic? If yes, could you give/link some sample instructions?
In a nutshell, Onyx and other black stones ground out excess energy. Think of them like spiritual lightning rods. They grab the energy, suck it in, and shoot it into the ground. it is that function that acts as protection from attack, as the energy or intent coming in just gets sucked up and sent away. Especially if worn.
Think of it as a balancer or a remover of excess. Place it in a room and it will slowly level out the energy within. Wear it, and it will do the same for your personal energy/aura. Certain other stones have additional qualities, for example black kyanite shares the grounding effect but also aligns energy and chakras like other forms of Kyanite. While obsidian can be used to sever unwanted ties because when chipped it forms a natural (and very sharp) blade.
Both, actually. When left alone in an area, it just constantly trickles out the excessive energy. But if you are feeling overloaded with energy, just hold the stone in your hand, and visualize the energy openly flowing into the stone. Personally, i found it helped more to imagine myself opening up to the influence of the stone and in essence giving myself permission to let the energy flow out, rather than trying to imagine or command the stone to suck it out. The stone is always doing its job, as it is merely an expression of its nature. But it can't have much effect if you are holding on to that energy yourself and not letting it go.
Overloads can happen sometimes if you are working with other powerful crystals, especially when you are not used to working with their potency. Moldovite and Kyanite are such examples. Some people will physically jump and feel like a shiver or tingle leaps through their body from head to tow when touching them. or even start to feel buzzy or floaty, and sort of disconnected from themselves. Similar can happen if you have recently done some focused energy working, received a reiki treatment, or otherwise done something that elevated your energy and vibration to a state higher than you are used to. It can feel unnerving or disorienting, but Onyx obsidian and black tourmaline (among others) are good for bringing you back down to earth, so to speak.
