control the ability to influence
influence is to control characteristics of something
for example in magic you can't defy physics
such as a stagnate ball
this ball has no ability to move on its own

telekinesis the power to move inanimate objects with out a secondary force doesn't make sense in magic nor in the law of nature

if you wanted to move a ball with magic you would have to have a spirit or be outside and manipulate wind patterns as long as there is equal hot and cold and the ends were strong enough.

how yo control wind with magic wind is caused by the transfer of energy
the characteristic of energy is to move in a certain direction if a direction to move the ball is available then you can if not you can't

Actually, Lunakiko, I succeeded at telekinesis without using a spiritual spell or wind spell. I did it with the flame of a candle. I put my left hand on the left side of the fire, palm towards vertical area straight above fire, and my right hand on the right side of the fire, palm towards vertical area straight above fire. When I put my hands at the level of the fire of the candle, the fire of the candle got flatter. When my hands were below the flame, the flame flattened even more. When my hands were above the flame, the flame got taller and thinner. The higher the level of my hands, the taller and thinner the flame got, and the harder the flame tried to reach up to the level of my hands.

I have also successfully used telekinesis to control the wind to move a plant like you said one could do. I have not moved a ball with telekinesis.

I believe that may be using sorcery not telekinesis because you moved elements of nature that have energy like fire or wind not a inanimate object such as a ball.
