No its not.

Some witches use spirits in their magickal practice but it isnt something that everyone does and it isnt a requirement in order to gain successful results.

Many people avoid working with spirits and the majority of practitioners draw their energy from the earth, themselves and the environment around them even if they work alongside spirits as well.
