Okay, so this is a little bit of an emergency. My friend and I did a spirit board and we were supposed to take it seriously but she is hard to control and long story short the microwave went haywire as did my friend's phone and there was some banging. We didn't experience most of it other than the phone, it was people elsewhere in the flat, not involved, so we cleansed every room with white sage and palo santo and I prayed and my friend prayer (we're different religions and so we had a Christian and a Wiccan praying) and I can't feel any energy, but I couldn't feel any energy anyway, but that may have been because it wasn't with us. I can't use smoke in the hallway, so I'm going to put down some crystals and pray some more, please tell me what else I should do, just in case. I can't feel anything, but that doesn't mean something isn't here. I don't need to be told I should have been better prepared, I don't need an I told you so, I know we cocked up and I want to fix the problem. Thank you for any advice.

I've got several protection jars and bottles and I've moved them around the flat to guard the main doorway and windows, and my friend has prayed to her God. I've been meditating and using visualisation, forcing my intent into this flat. It feels safe now and nothing has happened since I put the planchette on goodbye. The board and planchette are separated in different rooms and I smudged each of them to remove all the energy. I was planning on leaving it until morning and if anything happens I will ask the spirit to leave (without the board) and then cast a banishing spell.
Before I go into anything else, I must ask. Did you bid the spirit farewell? When speaking to spirits through any spirit board, you must bid farewell at the end. Otherwise, you will need to perform a ritual to drive the spirit away.
Yes, I did. As soon as we were made aware of a presence that frightened us, I took the planchette to the Goodbye and told the spirit it was not welcome here, that this was my home and I was not letting them stay, they had to go. I flipped the planchette over and ever since I've kept the planchette away from the board and have been chanting in my head or aloud that this is my home and no spirit is allowed within this space, they are unwelcome and they must leave. I feel safe now, but I just want some extra tips to reassure my friends who weren't a part of the communication but experienced the activity.
Cleansing is good. Now you have to bring in the positive. I am assuming from your comments that you are the Wiccan and not the Christian. I would suggest also burning sweet grass to attract the positivity into your space. The surest defense against darkness is to be filled with Light. You may actually want to try and cleans the space like you would a circle. You could even cast a circle and leave it up. (I can hear the gasps at that idea, but it works. I've known many Wiccans who did exactly that in their homes.) Visualize associating the circle with the walls of your home, and tie the opening of a portal into your home to the doors. I would also recommend you removing the board from your home.
As per your request, I will not go into an "I told you so" rant. I will say that in my early years of magical training I worked with spirit boards and Ouija boards, both with protection and without. If you do it properly there is nothing wrong with them. It is a tool, just like anything else. There are simple ways to protect yourself and be safe. These ways are also good and useful when you mess up and don't protect yourself.
I'll definitely buy some sweet grass in the morning. I never thought of casting a circle and leaving it up, but that does sound like an intriguing idea, I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for the advice.
Thank you also for the lack of "I told you so". In all honestly, none of us were taking it seriously. Initially, the Ouija board was constructed as a game and that was all we were treating it as, a game. From the first second, my friend (who's personality is far larger than my own) was making a joke out of it and we ended up using it to communicate to each other, spelling out the answers to stupid questions. Neither of us put intent into the board and I feel so stupid now. I'd assumed that if there was no intent to communicate with spirits, then there would be no communication with spirits, that we wouldn't be opening any door. With everything else I've done, it's been intent guiding things, so I was stupid enough to assume that our lack of intent meant nothing would happen. It's safe to say I won't be doing that again.
If you learned from it, then it is not stupid. I have a saying: There is no failure. Only feedback.
You bring up a very good point. As I teach students, everything is a magical act. If you choose to perform a magical act and not exercise your will there will probably be undesirable outcomes. Treat everything as magic, an exercise in your will and your higher Will, and things will turn out better.
That's possibly the wisest thing anyone's said to me before. Thank you for that. I feel so stupid for my mistakes, but I know they're just another lesson, a powerful one at that.
I considered deleting this post after I got guidance because I was so embarrassed by my own stupidity and didn't want other people to look down on me and think I think this is all a joke, but that wisdom alone is what's keeping this post here. Magick needs to be treated with respect and I did not do that, I treated it as a joke. I hope other people learn from my stupidity (and your smarts).

Don't take this in a negative way, just listen for a second.
Entities are not all malicious. You need to realize for a second, a couple things.
1. Microwaves break. It is possible that your microwave is just bad.
2. Imagine someone inviting you over to their house. Once they realize you're in their house they freak out and tell you you're not welcome in their home and you need to leave. That would be kinda rude. If you're not going to be polite, then don't summon entities. Don't invite someone over if you don't want to see them.
