Mulberry weed

Can anyone give me or tell me where I can get valid information on Mulberry weed(fatoua villosa)? It's all over my yard, and I'm finding conflicting information,yes it's edible no it's not,etc. I also have mock strawberry plants, BlackBerry plants, muscadines, ivy, cedar trees,pine trees, cane poles,moss, dandelions...Gotta love the south! Really, if someone can just point me to a reliable text or info on Mulberry weed i will be most appreciative. Thanks

Mulberry weed(fatoua villosa) , also called " hairy crabgrass " is listed as non-edible on several sites, including the Volusia County, Florida extension service site and http://www.eattheweeds.com/ufos-2/

I can understand your confusion as some sites do seem to say the plant may be edible. But , in my opinion as a long-time emergency room nurse, it is better to be safe than sorry. Unless I found myself in a survival situation I would not test it out just to see which version of edible vs non-edible is correct.

As a former medical laboratory technician, I agree with you 100%. You got to see what was going on with a person in the flesh, I got to see what a person's cells and other fluids(yuk) looked like when they acted stupid!

One more question. Are cane poles any use in herbalism? I know that they are related to bamboo but I can't find anything specific for fans poles. It would be wonderful if they had a good use. I have thousands around my house and they grow fast. A cane that is just emerging from the ground looks like alien pods.

I tried looking, but all I got was bamboo. Could you be more specific about what kind of cane poles?

The cane that is in my yard are the same poles that some older people in the South use as fishing poles. Also it's used to make furniture. It looks like bamboo only smaller.
I do know that both bamboo and came are a grass that come from the same family - Poaceae. It's the genre that's different. The bamboo that is most commonly used for timber comes from genres -phyllostachys or Bambusa and cane comes from Arundnaria.
My main question is can cane poles be substituted for bamboo in any herbal products? And does cane have any herbal or medicinal uses or other uses for spells?
