When I fall asleep I always seem to astral project and remember it all but every time I do I'm always in my exact house doing the same things over and over again.
And the reason I know it's a astral projection is because I always have the silver light cord tied to my body and me
Some will disagree with me, but I do not believe it is possible to astral project while dreaming since they are two different things and methods. You may just be having the same dream over and over again and it happens to be in that strange form.
Astral Projection is intentional, you must be consciousmeditating while doing so in order to separate the spiritual self from the physical self, visualizing whatever method you may be using, the cord isn't the only method, but is the most common by far.
Dreaming is when you are asleep, unconscious and you can't control it (unless you are lucid dreaming). It is very common to have a dream you have astral projected, I have personally had many dreams about it while I was on that topic as my main practice and study.
If you are intending to astral project, but have had no success then try other methods, it is very likely that what works for many won't work for you, that's kinda the fun thing about every practice, it's always unique and won't ever be like anyone else's

I disagree with the last comment. Although it is likely that you are simply dreaming of astral projection and having the same dream over and over, I believe that it is possible to project from a lucid dream. I thought that was one purpise of lucid dreaming in the first place.
Of the few times that I have managed to astral project, they have been while coming out of a lucid dream. The mind and sould are awake and alert, yet the body is still shut down and unwilling to move. Which can make it even easier to project out of body provided you aren't completely freaked out by the experience.
My first time was actually unintentional- though it was only my arm that I was able to move. Again, coming down from a lucid dream. I had actually thought I was awake and thought my eyes were open. I went to move my arm to my stomach for an itch or something and was startled at the sensation that I can only describe as going through myself. Of course, being startled at the new sensation I woke up and actually opened my eyes for real. I opened and closed my hand just to make sure that.., well I suppose that I was back in it the whole way? I don't know.
The second time was very similar, only my whole self was out of my body. My body was in bed, and my consciousness was somewhere just above it. I was high enough that I couldn't see my bed (still in the reclining position), but not to the ceiling and could easily view my window. Again I thought I was awake and actually looking at my window. It was very bright, and I just remember looking at the curtain gently flowing in a breeze that couldn't have been there because the window was actually closed. Now honestly I'm a bit scared of ghosts, and that was my first thought. But the curtain was flowing so peacefully. I just existed there observing the situation and watching the brightness of the window that looked so peaceful. I soon began hearing a sound that sounded something like a lawnmower. But it sounded like it was right behind my head, and as I concentrated on it It got louder and louder. I think as I was focusing on it I was being pulled back into my body, honestly I couldn't really think of much outside of the noise while I was hearing it. Then I was inside my head looking at the back of my eyelids. I opened them and my room was not so bright as I had thought a few minutes earlier.
All that being said, what you do in the astral plane is guided by your intent and your own thoughts. If you are doing the same thing over and over, I highly doubt that you are *wanting* to do the same thing over and over. Rather, you probably are wanting to project so badly that you are dreaming of it repeatedly. Or maybe you projected the first time and found it so great that you are replaying it in your dreams. I would like to suggest doing lucid dreaming exercises. I only know the trick where you ask yourself while you are awake "am I sleeping?" repeatedly, whenever you think of it. Asking out loud reinforces this habit. After a while the habit will carry over into your dreams. You will ask yourself in your dream "am I sleeping?" and your subconscious cannot lie to you, and it *will* answer. From that point on you will have more control.

People are not absolutely unconscious during even the deepest stage of sleep. It is a common believe that they are. Humans retain some level of awareness of their environment at all times due to safety reasons. For example, even if you are sound asleep a sudden very loud noise will wake you up. Additionally, in the first 2 stages of sleep human brain is even more active in some ways, than it is during wakeful state. First two stages are used by the brain to condense information from the short-term memory to the long-term memory and to crate new patterns and to learn. This is why many scientists actually dreamed about solutions to their scientific projects and work. Even in the NREM phase, which is the deepest sleep we still retain some level of consciousness, but the brain will switch to another phase only when a strong enough stimulus is present to trigger it. The reason for that is that the brain uses this phase of sleep to repair itself and to cleanse the toxins built on the neuronal pathways during the day and during the other three phases of sleep. It cannot do that, while working on fully operational mode because computing is energy expensive process and requires a lots of energy supply.
A person can learn to actually logically think during the three less deep phases of the sleep. A person also can additionally have this feeling of just knowing what is going to happen and this sense of just knowing things out of blue, which is very similar to the one people report to near death experience. For this to happen one has to realize that this is not real reality, but internally constructed one. I have even dreamed three minutes ahead of the time in my dream and seen what will happen, and then I just went back in time and fixed the issue that was to enfold.
x.lastre It is possible to astral project while asleep as long as you know that you realize that your physical body is asleep and that your more subtle body now can go to every place on this plane you intend to go. The issue is that you cannot actually leave and seems like you are locked in some routine, which tells me that something prevents you to leave. When I astral project or do remote viewing in both asleep(without the NREM phase) or awake phase I see nothing that connects my physical body to both my astral or soul body neither feel anything that holds me back. Usually, if I go too far or I stay there for too long I either fall down to my body and wake up, or bunch of spirits drag me down and slam me into it.
