To be a witch is to call yourself one and to practice witchcraft, "Witch" is a title, one that can be taken when you feel comfortable doing so.

Witches don't have "Witch Powers" either.

Witch is just a title for people who practice witchcraft. Many who practice witchcraft combine it with a religion, usually an earth based one that worships ancient deities [Norse, Celtic, Greek, so on] but there are some who combine witchcraft with more traditional religions [Judaism, Christianity, Islam] and there are even those who simply follow witchcraft [which is not a religion but a craft] and are atheist. It's a very broad spectrum is what I'm try to say.

Witches dedicate them self to their path and start calling themselves witches [if they are the religious kind they do a ceremony and dedicate themselves to their path and possibly their Gods, but if they're atheist they just study and practice witchcraft]

Witches don't actually have any cool powers like you've seen in movies. We work with the natural energies around us, observe the natural cycles, and try to live in balance with nature. Some do celebrate unique holidays specific to their religious path [the common 8 falling on equinoxes, solstices and the in between points] some don't even cast spells, but believe in Magick. Magick is simply a natural energy that brings change. A spell is a way people tap into and direct that energy. Some witches believe spells aren't real and you can't manipulate this natural energy we call magick, while others believe it's possible and should be called on more.

We don't have "witch powers" and although spell casting can do amazing things, it's basically a ritualize prayer [light a candle, charge with energy, say some words, visualize your goal, the work to achieve it] we can't contradict nature because this is a natural energy we work with, so flyin on broomsticks, turning people into toads, shapeshifting, and melting when wet are all works of fiction that no real witch can do [and I'm happy about that last point because I know many witches who love playing in the rain. I myself was just sitting on my balcony watching the rain]

So if you want to become a witch, just call yourself one and begins studying witchcraft, learn about other paths and build your own. [you might become Wiccan, or follow Folk Magick, Norse or Celtic, or mash them together into an eclectic path, really whatever speaks to you] I recommend checking out Raymond Bucklands Complete Book of Witchcraft [also called the big blue book by fans] its written similar to a textbook, giving information and then questions for you to answer [how do you feel about spells? How do you define magick? What do you feel is morally wrong? That sort of thing. No wrong answers just to help you build your path]
