Can I talk about hexes?

I have some pretty strong reservations regarding cursing others, but I find the topic of "baneful magic" interesting, and I like to come up with my own hypothetical hexes. Am I allowed to ask people in the forums for suggestions as to hexes? Again, I don't think I'll ever use them, but it's something I like to talk about.

I practice baneful magick when I feel it's necessary or fair, so I'd be happy to talk about it if you want. I know there are others on the site who would answer forum questions if you asked, as well :)

Hexes always fascinated me, but there's this taboo that goes along with it that makes even hypothetical conversation become a finger wagging shame fest. [i'm in a private group on Facebook that had to remove half the members for shaming others beliefs when they didn't follow the "harm none" rule] personally magick is intent, and so long as you have thought about it, and are willing to live with the results, cast whatever you want.

When it comes to hexes/curses they're just like any other spell, the only difference is instead of focusing your joy, you focus your rage. [if you can heal, you can hex] sometimes hexes can be seen as positive. I know many people who hex criminals and those who have done wrong. Some might argue it's better to turn the other cheek, but that's not for everyone. We should be able to talk about hexes openly, it removes the stigma from the "black magick" which is just a different flavour of the same universal energy pool.

Personally I have cursed people [not a lot, and not because I was bored, they wronged me] the first time I was mad at the person for a few days, I tried grounding, meditating, and various forgiveness rituals/spells but each day I was madder and madder until I used a simple hex chant I was given when I was in high school. It felt like a weight was lifted and I felt so much better. I was able to forgive him and we rebuilt our friendship... only to find out the same day I hexed him he was caught driving without insurance and was slapped with a 2,000$ fine. I started to laugh at his misfortune [because we were fighting about, among other things, how he thinks he knows better and he didn't need insurance because he's a safe driver] then I remembered the hex and was all "shoot, that was me... well, whatever" I felt bad that I got him slapped with a fine, but I accepted what I did, and I never received negative results.

Negative events and consequences to one's choices can also be powerful teachers in the right places. I find many hexes/curses are built around this idea. Like setting into motion an event or consequence to balance the scales of bad choices or misdeeds.

For example someone steals from you. So you make a working to turn what was stolen into an item of misfortune that sucks away the energy and attentiveness of the one posessing it. That could lead to mistakes and oversights leading to the individual later being caught and receiving the appropriate punishment. But also while in the judiciary system it might open rehabilitation opportunities, education, trades training, and psychological attention. All of which create opportunities for the person to change for the better and break out of an otherwise downward cycle.

Topics such as these ones are the ones that people have heavy opinions on. But it's important to talk about this "side" of the craft since it's not as talked about as it should be. People should be aware of hexes and casting them as well as breaking them. There's an old saying I very much enjoy ' We are like bee's we can do sweet and amazing things but do not be fooled because we also have a stinger '.

Hexes, are often casted when the caster has rage for that personand that has to be taken into consideration. In my opinion/experience a hex is going to work when you have a 'strong' rage for that person but you can't also forget some tools that should be used when casting. There's also many factors you have to take in like what Neko said "and are willing to live with the results". I think with hexing and cursing you sometimes have guilt because whatever bad luck happen to that person may be very serious and now you have to live knowing you caused that but that feeling I think depends on the person and their set of mindset.

As long as you can live with the results, the feeling, and possibly some black lash (which depends on the a person's belief) than cast away.

@ spirit, your example kind of reminds me of this "passive aggressive witch" meme i love that goes "Passive Aggressive Witches be like 'i don't curse people, i bless everyone around them'" i don't fall into the camp who believe 'you can't heal if you can't hex' everyone needs to choose for themselves what's morally right and wrong, but i've met plenty of people who look for "loopholes" when someone has wronged them [there's this 'wiccan karma spell' that isn't called a curse/hex, but might as well be, because the spell is asking the universe to make karma catch up to the person, that one drives me crazy, not that you shouldn't use it, but the fact you don't want to own the fact you want revenge] i feel people jump into spells without thinking, be it 'positive' or 'negative' many people either use spells to solve all your problems, or they follow the mob mentality of "love and light" and anyone who doesn't follow a specific path is doing evil and wrong, and their life is miserable. [voodoo is a big one that comes to mind. the idea of using animal parts, and having no problem cursing someone who has done you wrong, many see as "dangerous" when in reality it's just misunderstood]

Thanks! I'm just worried that, for me, it might become a slippery slope morality-wise. Like I might start cursing more and more people more and more often and it could lead to me trying a lot to hurt people in nonmagical ways, too. Honestly I don't feel the need to hex people all that often.
