Spells canaid you in the right direction you have to take the ride, and if I'm being honest with you, only trained professionals can help with that. See your doctor and tell them about what you've been experiencing.
The best I have found with my own practice is coping mechanisms, and study about the symptoms and issues I face in my life, which helps me learn more and better ways to cope. There are methods which can be used (when approached from an informed perspective; it is possible to cause more problems if this is not done with care, coming from study and knowledge) to explore the inner self. A combination of these things can help face such issues as depression.
But none of this trumps actual professional help. The magic process can do wonders, but I do not recommend relying only on that.
Also, you may consider exploring the roots of some of these issues. Depression might be related to circumstance, solely because of a chemical imbalance, or some combination. Your insomnia might be its own issue, or it might be a symptom of a greater issue. Finding and facing that greater issue may help, or at least bring understanding.
A doctor could help you sort through your experiences and narrow down the influences of what it is you experience. There is a lot more out there than medication. However, sometimes medication is an answer. Also, there is more than one medication for a symptom. Not everyone is the best match for every doctor or medication.

Meditation is a good practice for those who have trouble sleeping. Meditation can help the body relax though deep breathing exercises such as the three part breath used in Hatha yoga practice. Essentially it''s filling your your lungs with air causing the throat to open the chest to lift and the stomach to expand as you completely fill the lungs with fresh air and positive energy, feeling the oxygen being picked up in the lungs and carried to the corners of your body providing oxygen to all the cells for proper metabolic function on a cellular level. Feel the exchange of energy as you push negativity out of the body through the feet if you are in savasana or corpse pose by laying flat or through the base of the body if you are in lotus position. Continue to breath deeply using the three part breath until you do it automatically. It's going to take time, effort, and practice to become skilled to where it is second nature. I suggest practicing towards the evening a few hours before one would normally sleep. Add some gentle yoga poses and stretches to your deep breathing exercises and you are sure to reset the mind, body, and spirit connection which will also help you get more rest and fight depression symptoms.
