Wicca altar setting ideas

Hi! Im trying to set up my wiccan altar and Im having some problems:
1- can i make the god and goddes statues entirely wooden with very little to no special tools?
2- how can i make my own candles
Any ideas?

The way I like to make candles is in big batches. First, Igrate down one big white one to flakes of wax, then melt it over a pot of boiling water. I then add any coloring by dropping in a crayon or two, and also addany scents via a scented wax block (You can buy these at Walmart, they're pretty cheap). I then take the liquid wax and pour it into molds, after adding the wax-coated wick to it. If you don't have a mold, a tin can will work for a short candle. I sometimes charge my ingredients before making it, and sometimes I charged the finished candle after making it.

I'm not an expert on wood carving, but the tools shouldn't matter. Intent and energy is the most important, and the fact that you want to custom-make them should be enough personal energy that you're putting into this.

I'm not good a widdling, but you need wood and a good knife. As for candles, you can find some pretty inexpensive kits. It's basically like making chocolates. Get a double burner [a pot over a pot of water] melt the wax in the top pot, once it hits the right temperature, pour into the mould with the wick held in place. You can also just use candles to represent the God and Goddess until you complete your statues of them.

You can certainly make your own representations of the God and the Goddess for your altar, especially if you are good at shaping wood with nothing more than a pocket knife and/or a chisel.

Or, instead of having actual figures, you can use something to represent the God and the Goddess that you might have on hand. Here are some suggestions for substitutes you could consider using:

Goddess - flowers, a cup or chalice, a white candle, a stone with a hole through it., a cowrie shell.

God - your athame, a red candle, an animal tooth or horn.

Some items on your altar can serve a dual purpose. For instance, the chalice or cup with water can represent both the Goddess and the Element of Water. The Athame can represent both the Element of Air and the God.
