So my mother in law is coming over this weekend and always makes my fiancé’s Head Dark. I recent learned that she brings a dark cloud with her of jealousy from an ex how hung himself because she choose her son over him. So I’ve done my salt circle around my home I’m going to put salt around my entry ways. But I got a necklace from a sister and I want to give it to her before she enters my home to keep (Joe the Darkness) out and away from him. What all do I need to do cleanse it before I give it to her ??

It depends a bit on what the necklace is made from. Salt grounds very well, which is why it is useful at thresholds. But some stones and metals are vulnerable to it and could get damaged if you do a salt-water cleanse.

Another option is to lay the item in a circle of crystals if you have any. Kyanite, Moldovite, Herkimer diamonds (a form of quartz), and any form of obsidian would do.

Or, if you would like you could hunt down a rite to bless and awaken the item with intent directly focused on making it a protective talisman.

You could also cleanse with smoke if that is an option for you.

Sage or Palo Santo work well. You could also use standard incense. Something protective like a sandalwood or dragon's blood would do nicely.

Regards placing the necklace in salt, you need not exactly use salt. You can use soil or earth. Laying the item within a fresh bowl of soil from your property could truly represent blessing the item and your relative with the property of the space.

It sends a welcoming message.

Truly it is sad your mother in law has experienced this past pain.

With welcoming and healing thoughts in mind, your blessing can do much good. For both your mother in law and your relationship to her.

If any of those are not a practical option you can bless the item with energy. Visualize healing and blessing energy enveloping the object. Ready for your loved one, to enjoy and utilize.
