There are good ways to make change for the better.
It begins with contemplation and honest examination of the situation, and the Self. Understanding accurate causes is the first and most important part of finding an effective solution. This is also important as problems and imbalances can be found to be medical- Brain chemistry is complex, sometimes there is just a glitch in the system that needs no more cause than that. Sometimes it is psychological- The mind operates on habits; walk a path on a beach and the path gets deeper, rewalk it enough and it gets so deep you can't walk anywhere else. Sometimes it is one's surroundings/environment- unhealthy friends, unhealthy role-models, toxic relationships in family, toxic or stressful work/school... this list is a large one. And of course Sometimes the troubles are spiritual- a lack of feeling connected to the self, feeling unaligned with where you feel you should be in life, or feeling directionless/lost spiritually.
All of these things have real paths to healing, and begin with getting help. The truest way of getting that help is by directly asking for it. No hints, no dancing about, no allusions. Find someone who is in a position of trust, tell them what is going on, and ask for help in finding a way to improve things. Or rather, for help in finding a qualified person/group, from an appropriate professional field.
Magically, there are processes for enabling/empowering yourself to deep personal change and creating new personal beginnings. It is essentially a multi-step ritual of letting go and choosing a new personal direction.
Though not a suicide/death, as you or someone you know feel like might be some sort of solution to a situation that I can imagine feels unending or hopeless, it can create an opportunity to make a conscious and deliberate choice to make change for the better. Think of it as a symbolic rebirth or transformation.
Symbolic rebirth is a common theme for initiations, and for good reason as it symbolizes the death of yourself as you used to be, and then a re-birth/recreation of yourself as a new person on a new path. Freed from the anchors that held back your previous self. In this regard, a re-birth can be used to initiate yourself onto a new desired path; like a path leading to help, support, treatment (as needed and in the right forms) and betterment.
The tricky part is that this takes time, and research, and consideration. There are several forms of rites that can be performed. What will be helpful for you should be something you feel connected with, and something within the traditions you are most familiar/comfortable with. You will want to look into the history and initiatory rites of the path(s) you follow, some even have literal re-birth practices you can draw from.
For example, I work with Dragons, and in my own desire for creating some important internal change and shadow-work I learned of an initiation involving a guided meditation ending with inviting a dragon to bathe you in its fire.
There are also more overt rites that might involve spending a night (dusk to first light) in a cave, in contemplation or inviting one's guiding deity to be in your company. Or inviting a God/dess with death and rebirth under their purview.
As a note, ideally the latter really should be facilitated by a fully ordained priest/ess as experience and authority are very important. They would know who to call on and how, can watch over you and support you, and just plain for safety as one should never go underground alone, even if it is only a few feet. You need to have someone nearby who can pull you out if it is needed.
The idea of entering a cave can be adapted as well, whether out of safety or availability there are many ways to symbolise re-entering the earth (which is the death part of re-birth). Any safely enclosing and isolating surrounding can do the trick, even if it is as simple as a bedsheets tent in your basement, where you crawl into it and hold or lay with a personally meaningful stone.
Another option would be to have a literal funeral rite performed on yourself. Lay, have a shroud (bedsheet) lain over you, maybe some flower petals or crystals lain, and a funeral prayer is all it would take. Again an ordained process would be best if it can be done... but work with what you have.
The object is to begin the process with a conviction of letting go of the self-perception of fear, hopelessness, failure, or other forfeiture of your future. View that version of yourself as dying. Fading away. Being interred, respected, and even mourned as dead.
Then, to end the process with a conscious perception of being a genuinely new version of yourself. One that may have the same challenges (as no magic will solve them for you) but empowered to face them better. A new person who has the ability to look forward, seek solutions, and pursue them in a healthy and healing way. The person you were is dead, well and truly. And now the person you are, the one born on the dawn, has a true opportunity to choose a deliberate new path.
Be aware that in life there are no single solutions. But rather, there are many small ones. And the more solutions you look for, the more potent the collective result.
People who seek only treatment through drugs/doctors see (last time I checked a study) about a 30% success rate in making lasting change. Most often the person is on treatment for life.
People who only seek psychological support also see (again, based on the last time I checked) about a 35% success rate in lasting improvement.
People who use both methods of help tend to see a whopping 80% success of lasting changed. A result greater than the sum of the parts because one supports the other.
I can only imagine that adding a spiritual process to the pile... in the right way and through the right, qualified people, can only help Improve those odds.
I look at it like this; Why would a warrior who has two arms ever go into battle with only one weapon, when a shield is also at hand?
