I have been having experiences while sleeping before I wake that I see a circle of some kind and if I go into this circle I can lucid dream. I guess it's sort of like breaking the fourth wall. As I do this I sometimes see fog. I know when people scry they sometimes see fog. If I were to get to that kind of state of mind while awake can I use the circle method and scry into a black scrying mirror and go into the circle or just look in it to talk to spirits or use itfor divination.
Also would using these different methods be for differen purposes. Like if I wanted to travel to the spirit world I would imagine myself going into the hole and if I just want to see something I just glare into it? Please answer this question most importantly because I am sort of stuff on this.
In my experience of scrying I have never seen fog. I let images come to my mind's eye. I do not normally look into physical things while scrying though sometimes I have looked upon stones. Scrying with my eyes open the same happens with my eyes closed. Imagery will come to me.
Where you speak of talking with spirits and journeying or going into the hole, shamanically this is done the same for me. It is just that my meditative visualization looks different. You see a hole, I may see a tree, or a garden.
This technique can look different to different people, yet it is a similar technique. Like how looking into the hole to see can be similar to remote viewing, traveling to a place to gather information. This can be done as well with your technique of gazing into a hole.
I had a meditative scrying experience where I traveled up the trunk of a tree until finding a room. Within this room an older man came out of the corner with a bowl of water which I then gazed into. The theme of the images had been things on my mind. The water reflected this back to me.
I call this journeying or remote viewing. Others may call it something else.

This is because it is a trance or meditative like practice as you focus your attention and open up to receive new information.It can aid one with communication involving spirits but it can also help one retrieve messages and information from a dream or located within the subconscious. There are many things one can use to scrywith such as a black mirror which can be very simple to make or a crystal ball, stone bowls, glass bowls or rounded bottles, bowls filled with dirt, herbs, or even a bowl of stones can be a focal point to gaze into and help facilitate the messages you are seeking.
