What are the abilities of the third eye?

Hi.

It is said work with the third eye can help to facilitate psychic ability and awareness in general. It can promote clarity as well. Seeing things clearly or as they are.

I do not work with the chakras too much personally, but have read a little on the subject.

RavenFeet is correct, the third eye is associated with things related to spiritual awareness and intuition. (While the solar plexus is more inter-personal/physical awareness and intuition)

Generally speaking, it is associated with perceptiveness when it comes to spiritual things. Though different people encounter different results, depending on their pre-dispositions. For example my wife is able to see and be aware of the presence of spirits, where I might as well be wearing a blindfold and feeling my way around in a dark room. But I am more intuitive and empathic, and generally sensitive to the energy and emotions of people and places. I don't 'see' what is around me so much as get intuitive ideas of what is going on. But, in both cases one would use our experiences as evidence of an opened third eye.

The tricky part, is deciding if opening the third eye is what facilitates intuition and second sight... Or if working towards becoming intuitive/aware and consciously observant is what leads to opening the third eye. My opinion and experience says it is both.
