Hi, I am trying to do witchcraft and I'm new to this, I need a familiar I don't want an animal familiar, does anyone know how can I get a familiar? to help me in my spells and life journey and protect me?! I appreciate it if anyone helps me.
First off, you don't need a Familiar in order to practice Witchcraft. You might want one and you might find them useful, but you certainly don't have to have one.
Familiars are spirits the practitioner draws to themselves or magical entities which they create. They are not living animals; and certainly not our pets, so you don't need to worry about having an animal familiar.
I know they are not animals and I know I don't need them in witchcraft
I just want a familiar and the way to get a familiar do you know anything or any tips?
Weatherwax actually made a very good primer on fetches and familiars a long while back in the forums. I've kept it in my favorites for just such an occasion!
-Having a familiar, guide, or guardian is not a requirement to practice magic. Though the companionship and wisdom can be helpful, and having that extra presence can be comforting in times when you might otherwise feel a bit alone or in the dark.
-Guides, Guardians, fylgias, Fetches, and familiars are all a little bit different in the roles they play. They also can differ on how they fulfill their roles. There can be overlap between them, but they are different entities. Based on the general nature of what roles you would like to be filled I would personally suggest doing a guide calling. I'm probably biased though because I have worked with a spirit guide for the entirety of my own journey and I've found great comfort, wisdom, and learning thanks to his help. ...Though at times his idea of protection has been to point and laugh, then smugly ask "And what have we learned from this little misadventure?"
One final note; You do not choose what form your companion comes to you as. The idea is to put out a call for the being/entity that will best serve your needs and goals. Often a large part of what they can teach comes from what their form represents. Especially at first while you are getting to know your new companion. So when you do a calling, and until you connect with your companion, do your best to focus more on your goals than on the potential form. Otherwise you could be (figuratively) staring your guide in the face and not even realize it because it doesn't conform to what you are looking for.
That is something I learned first-hand. It took a year, almost to the day, for me to finally connect with my guide after being taken through a calling by a friend. I spent that time expecting something like an eagle, or panther, or dolphin... meanwhile a Dragon was trying repeatedly to get my attention and I was not at all connecting the dots of synchronicity happening all around me. For me that can be par for the course though... I've always kind of sucked at paying attention.
A long while ago, under a previous account, I put up a guide calling ritual that might be helpful... if you can forgive me shilling myself out a bit. It is more complex/detailed than average because I formatted it as a complete ritual. But it should be easy to simplify into something more basic. Or even to use as a purposeful meditation/visualization. It is a bit sloppy with typo's, and I had to make one major correction down in the comments. So if it raises questions feel free to ask.

The jinn helps him in any cases such as predicting the future or finding lost things or lost people or telling him the answer to the questions, I want to a have jinn familiar (good jinn ofc)
