The possibilities of reading a dream or decoding a dream rather, that will be endless. Considering that different dreams will have different meanings for different people. Taking into consideration also that when you sleep or rather just fall of to sleep, there are different stages of which your body and subconscious state reacts. Example when you just fall asleep, your body is still tired, those dreams are more of a light reflection of your day. As you get deeper into sleep, the subconscious is given a chance to act, probably by remenesing about something and the morning deep sleep is where the messages are said to come through. That's when the body, and the subconscious are at total relaxation and is now open to receiving 'signals ' or signs or messages.
In my opinion, depending on how clear these messages are, you will have some insight on what may occur, what may happen. Probably in the most nearest future. I'm not saying you wouldn't be able to read your further future, I'm just saying that dreams give you a sign or a message of something about to happen, or a warning of something close to happen. Look, a dream journal as I always say, is best. Keep a dream journal and note down your dreams. After a few weeks or so, put them together like you would do a puzzle. And then you see from there how accurate are the messages in regards to reading your own future.
This is my shared opinion and I trust you will get some clarity in decoding your dream.

Best of luck

They're called prophetic dreams, and I've had them since I was a kid [totally normal in my family] I wish I could control them, but idk how. There are ways to have more, you improve your psychic abilities [intuition] and connect more with your dreamscape.

Prophetic dreams feel different than other dreams [mor real] and they'll reoccur until it happens. A low stakes one I had for 3 years was my friends and I went to a candy shop. One day after school, one of my friends was like "Did you hear they opened a candy shop in town? let's check it out." We entered the shop and I stumbled out the door because the deja vu nearly knocked me out. My friends [all pagan] asked what happened, and I explained I'd seen this shop in my dreams. They asked where stuff was and I knew exactly where every item was, down to the shop owner would walk out of that door and apologize because they've been on the phone with their supplier all morning and unfortunately won't have British candy stocked until next week, so we'll each get a free pixie stick because my one friend was looking for bon bons. Not 5 minutes later, who walks out but the shop keeper who explains the situation to us and we leave with pixie sticks. [yes, we did become regulars at the shop lol]

I suggest keeping a dream journal by your bed since we forget 80% of our dream within the first 5 minutes. You might only recall one item, but the more you practice, the more you'll remember. There's also teas, aromatherapy, and bedtime rituals which can help with dreams [remembering them as well as prophetic dreams, lucid dreams, past lives...] see what resonates with you and try it.

If you're interested in lucid dreaming, it's about being observant. Ground yourself throughout the day by looking around and find five things you can see, four things you can feel/touch, three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste. It will become second nature and once you're in a dream, you'll notice things are slightly off [lights don't work in my dreams. I'll turn on a light and the light bulb will appear like it's glowing, but the room will remain the same brightness] Some say mirrors and looking at your hands can tell you if you're dreaming. Hands I haven't checked, but mirrors don't do much for me. I rarely look into them, and the few times I have, it was either because I was reliving a past life and it didn't look like me for that reason, or I was seeing a future version of myself in the mirror.

Even if you aren't having prophetic dreams, I highly recommend dream interpretation [I follow Jungian psychoanalysis over Freudian] There are books on the subject [I have several because some don't have what I'm looking for] but you can also type "*Thing from dream* dream interpretation" into Google and find something. Many images have universal themes, but if something resonates with you, go with that interpretation. Snakes are usually transformation, hidden fears and threats, but say you love snakes and have one as a pet, you wouldn't see the danger aspect of the interpretation because it means something different to you.
