how do you know if this will work
You should feel the energy flow in your body. I doubt the effectiveness of this particular spell however, since magickal energy isn't a weapon, and if you want to become ''stronger'' you either practice or focus more energy when casting. Look into charge/grounding energy and psi balls if you want to get the feel of the energy flow. Meditation can also help you be more present and sense energy easier.
That's why this is called a practice. You have to do it every day. There are no shortcuts in the craft.
