Hi, I've tweaked a few base recipes for citrus/fruit tea and the results are quite nice. The tea I make wakes me up and seems to help protect against sickness, as well as numbing sore throats. It's quite spicy and slightly bitter and feels almost tingly while drinking. The taste grows on you while you're drinking.
This recipe is for two cups of tea, adjust accordingly:

2 1/2 cups of water (some water will be lost while simmering)
8 tablespoons orange juice
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
~10 cloves
1/2 of one apple (peeled, diced into medium sized pieces, cut around the core)
1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 pinch dried ground ginger/ 2 pinches freshly ground ginger
all of the zest of the orange used to juice (make sure to not get the pith, just the rind)
dried black tea leaves (two teabags are fine)
instructions:

1. put the water, cloves, sugar and cinnamon into a saucepan, mix together. Heat on medium heat until boiling. (you can use high heat, but I've noticed it tends to taste nicer on medium)

2. turn off the heat, put two teabags into the mix and let them steep for about 4 minutes.

3. remove the teabags, then add the orange rind, the honey, the orange juice, the apple pieces, the lemon juice and the ginger to the mix. turn on the heat, but keep it on low so that it doesn't boil, but is steaming slightly. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.

4. Strain out the tea, then serve immediately or let cool in refrigerator. (I'd suggest drinking it warm as it doesn't taste as good cold)

Just a heads up, but the tea is quite bitter. Please tell me if it could use any tweaks, I'll be sure to try them out and possibly update this. Thank you!
