Empath, dealing with it

The following form is based on my own experience, it won't go through the 10 or 20 signs of being an empath since there's plenty information out there about that. However, it will give a small introduced on what an empath is, and ways to deal with it.

What is an Empath?

While everyone is cabled in showing empathy to another person, empaths take the next step. We can feel people emotions, and some can even feel other people physical pain. We're pretty much sponges and it can be difficult, going places where there are a number amount of people. Cities are especially draining. Ever heard of the saying, "if you cry, I cry." Yeah, that's how some of us react.

Curse or blessing?

Depending on how you look at it, an empath can be a blessing or a curse. As a physical empath myself it's definitely no fun, but there is an upside. Not many people often feel like their listen to, or their really down for that day and suddenly your stuck with their troubles and its weighing you down. Opinions may change on this matter, and that's totally cool, but for me it's why I love being an empath. I get to make that person feel happy, for the day and positive about their life even if it's just for a moment as we walk by. It may feel like a curse, but it can be a blessing. Plus, you can feel when someone is untrustworthy.

Drained.

The down side of being one, is that you may feel more drained on a day to day. Tired, sore, limbs are numb and I don't want to get out of bed. An understandable reaction, especially if you are around people who drain your energy quicker then others. Go out in nature if that's not possible, listen to nature music. I've found that nature has really helped me regain my strength and my energy. Sometimes it may take an hour, sometimes it may take ten minutes, but either way you will get your energy back.

Cleanse often

There are plenty of methods to cleanse oneself and if you do witchcraft then you should be doing it regularly. Cleansing is just important when being an empath, even if you don't practice anything witchcraft. It's still helpful, just picture all that energy that isn't yours fading away from you. The longer you keep it, the more it can effect you.

For me I like to use my hands, swiping across my chest and saying. "I'm cutting this energy away from me, I've acknowledged that it is not mine." I find any physical pain I feel, which is not mine no longer bothering me. I also like to send some joy or happiness to a person, who may have the problem.

Be picky.

If someone is toxic you should leave them anyway, even if you are not an empath. If you notice someone is toxic, draining your energy and just making you not having a good day. Then leave. While it's nice to feel listened to, and have some joy in one life, one cannot save a person who refuse to save themselves. Put yourself first, look after yourself and remember you are not being a horrible person, just because you left them.

Know the self

Being an empath we get other people emotions, some even get their physical pains. So know yourself, maybe spend some time with yourself and get to know yourself. Your flaws, your emotions, your dreams, your thoughts and your triggers. Get to know yourself.

Shield.

Shield, picture a bubble around you, made of light and know that nobody can touch your energy. This helped me majority when I was travelling in cities. It's also the most common to look after yourself this way.
