Personally I will always perform a cleanse using the energy of "fire" as to me its like "taking a shower but for energy" kind of thing after I do any amount of baneful magic, the same goes for my home after I cast the spell (the baneful spell), I have just realized though, is this even needed every time? I mean I understand that residual energy is a thing that can accumulate following the release of energy when performing spell casting. I of course have an overkill level of protection and other defensive magics etc, but could I create a spelled object or a spell itself to always keep the space /home free of "negative energy" so I could still perform baneful magic when I need to but save myself the time of doing a cleanse (while I'm home I mean) not saying I would never cleanse myself as I do know how to do that , its just can things easier for myself or is this not a thing?
