Is this a spell or a poem

Unpredictable Spirits (I'm more of a chanter,then a use materials).

Forces of fire to light my way,
Come to the path shone my way,
Forces of strength to control my way,
come into my darkness and strike it away,
Forces of power, to control my way,
come to my field and strike it away.

It could be considered both. A spell can be made out of anything. If you put power and feeling behind any words or thoughts it could be considered a spell.

Gypsy right, however it feels more like a poem than a spell, since all I get out of it is just the person is wanting power to come their way.

I agree with Gypsy as well; many spells can be considered poems and typically are.

Poetry is to spells as singing is to chanting.
Magic can often have an "artsy" feel to it, yes.
