I usually don't make it from scratch, I'll generally buy it from the local market in teabag form. But I knew a few tricks to make it taste pretty delicious.
Now, this is a recipe I've picked up from various sites, and adjusted to taste. It is also using a tea bag .
-First of all, you want to boil some water, with your tea bag in the pot. Boil enough water for the amount of people you are serving ex- 2 cups, 2 tea bags.
-Next, after the water starts boiling, you should stir it around, because chai tea releases it's flavors around the temperature water starts boiling. The water would become a dark, beautiful Amber color.
-You can add a few sprinkles of ground clove, or cinnamon. I always like to add both. After you've added those, wait until it becomes a boil, then remove it from the heat for a few minutes.
-Add the milk, making sure to slowly stir as you slowly pour in the milk. We do not want it curdling.
-After the milk is added, put it back onto the heat, and right when you see bubbles, remove it. Now, you can pour it into your mug, and drink up.
Cheers , that's great although I'm after what goes in the tea bag , the shop ones I find are well ...... Not right somehow . My mate make it but she recently died and she didn't leave the recipe and by the gods was it nice .
I'm sorry for your loss. Maybe you could ask some of her friends and family about it, you never know if someone may have given her the recipe or she may have shared it with someone.
I've tried this version before and it wasnt bad, I have seen this around alot of the recipe sites.I hope you find this acceptable.
Ingredients:
1 cinnamon stick
6 whole green cardamom pods
6 whole cloves
1 (1-inch) piece ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced
4 whole black peppercorns
3 cups water
2 single-serve black tea bags or 1 tablespoon loose black tea
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1 cup low-fat milk
Place cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, peppercorns and water into a small pot and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to let steep for 10 minutes.
Return pot to the heat and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea, cover and set aside to let steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, discarding all solids, then return liquid to the pot. Stir in sugar and milk and heat over low heat for 1 minute. Pour into cups and serve
