Iron cauldrons
By:
I just started studying herbalism in depth and my book said herbs should never touch iron because iron destroys all magick. I have a cast iron cauldron, is it okay to use herbs in it or to get a new one that doesnt have iron in it at all?
Also should i just get rid of this cauldron because it has Iron in it?

If you are opposed to iron you can always go for brass

I would not use a cast iron cauldron for making herbal preparations, primarily because the iron will leach into the herbs. Rather than using a cauldron for this purpose why not simply buy an inexpensive cooking pot that is treated so that the materials of the pot won't contaminate the herbs?

I do however burn herbal incense in a cast iron cauldron and have never had a problem using it in that fashion.

I have always used cast iron caldrons to burn incense or to cook, that's it (caldrons make the cutest serving pots for pot pies and cobler). When I prepare my herbs, I usually aim for a stone or wooden mortar. I do agree with Lark, I have a tiny cook pot that came out of a ceramic cooking set that I use when I need to make any kind of herbal preparation via heat. I do have a stainless steel caldron (paid a ton for it) but I usually use it for decoration.
