Chaga
By:
Recently my family came into the know of a fungus that grows on birch tree's known as Chaga. I'm well aware of its medicinal properties and even have scientific notes on it from research into its chemical components and why, medically, it does what it does. However is anyone else aware of its magical uses?

From what I have read I'd associate the fungi with good heath, strength, and immortality. I could find no books mentioning Chaga mushrooms or their magical purposes.

Chaga, as all fungus, has many medical properties. Mushrooms, of all kinds, have been used in magic/healing for thousands of years. Chaga is well known in Russia for healing stomach illnesses, such as gastritis, and ulcers. An extract from the fungus is used to treat cancers.
Chaga (Inonotus Obliquus) grows very large on some hardwood trees, besides the smaller Birch. It is edible.
