If you are new to the practice, a spell is not the first think you should be thinking of doing.

It is best to gain a foundation of knowledge first, before learning how to write your own spells, this allows them to have a much higher chance of working.

There are some great beginner posts on this website, and many good, easily accessible books found on Amazon and other internet stores.

Whether or not a spell, "works" depends on many factors. A strong foundation is advised. There are many basic principals and practices that will help you. The generic basics are a good start. These are thought to be grounding, centering, meditation. I would also include visulization and corrospondences. It becomes so much easier to make your own spells and tailor fit them to your purpose when you gain a good grasp of what can and cannot be done, then how to go about them.

First I agree with H2O, if you are new you should learn first, before casting any spell.

Secondly I advise you not to use a love spell to return an ex lover or to make someone love you, it messes with the persons "Free Will" and with that it won't be real love. The best way is to take a mundane approach, talk to him/her, tell him/her how you feel, and see where it leads. If he/she doesn't feel the same way, then it's time to let it go I'm afraid, there will be other people, like an old saying goes "there are plenty of fish in the sea."

I agree with ShadowBonder. Real love spells mess with a person's free will. And I would want someone to genuinely love me. Not "love" me because of some spell I used.
