I've always worked with white magic & have found my best way (with herbs yay). After an unpleasant dismissal from my job (directly after cutting a lucky hand root) it's a learning step i guess. Even though I'm quite new to using herbs with not much else. I wanted to see what the thoughts were on creating a poppet of myself & including all herbs that will help me succeed (life in general). Does creating a poppet of yourself cross over to hoodoo? Yes hoodoo is not necessarily black magic, but can I do this?
You can use poppets for just about anything, and as far as I know, you don't need to follow a specific path or practice to make them. They've been used in various ones and by various practitioners.
I use them for everything from protection, healing, and things in between. They're just like any other item or tool. You use them to help you focus on your goal or intent and as a means to send your desire/energy out into the universe.
You could create one and fill it with items associated with your goal and focus on it bringing the poppet (you) those same qualities. I personally make the poppet and fill it with the items or herbs, while focusing on my goal. I then say a small chant or phrase to strengthen my intent as I stitch the poppet up.
Hi! I just came across to this thread and i had read your reply to her. Can i ask what if the poppet was intended for somebody else? Should i need to fill it with his/her belongings like strands of hair or nails? I was browsing the spell book section and found some spells needed poppets or dolls. The thing was, some were saying you just have to fix or sew a photo of the intended target. Will it work thatway? Sorry, i am a newbie so i just want to know. There were nothing much articles about dolls here so i want to ask someone who practice it.

Yes. You would design the poppet in the image of whoever it is that you'd be casting the spell for. If it's yourself, you can do as mentioned above. If it's for someone else, you'd use pictures or items belong to them, along with the herbs and materials associated with your intent.

I'm planning my poppet with pieces of my own clothes (as well as colored material), crystals i work closely with & my lovely herbs. My concern is how to dissemble the little work of art later (to retrieve my crystals ha). I know what NOT to do (river, cutting off head, strangle etc.) How can I safely take apart this poppet at the end....long term? & thank you so much for your advice, it's usually me so it's great!
