World News

New section on the site, World News.

You will find the latest added news on the front page and in the sidebar. The news will link to news off of the site, but you can comment on it on SoM. It's just basic right now, but if people like it I will improve it so members can suggest news etc.

I quite like the idea. Will they all be Pagan news in nature only, or will they include world issues as the title "world news" suggests? [also, of the articles currently linked 3 out of 4 are from patheos. Not complaining, I love that site, just curious how many sites you've approved so far]

Pagan, new age, witchcraft, stuff like that.... right now the news is from Google news which I filter and select which ones to add. Theres about 20 more news articles in the queue. They are timed to release every few hours so there is always a new article appearing throughout the day and they don't just refresh with 10 new ones all at once. About half of those are from Patheos, and most of those arent always news as much as they are articles.

The articles section of the site needs a revamping, and maybe links to external sites would be more useful there for the less "news" type of things appearing in the news section right now, but for now we'll see what the response is. If the actual news is not of interest and the articles are then maybe

Neat, I like the idea a lot [though I am worried with a random algorithm we'll come across hateful articles. There's one up right now about people arrested for murder claiming it was witchcraft. I just clicked the link, it's just a sentence, stating the crime and court date] I'll keep an eye on it, if I can think of any Pagan news sites I'll let you know.

Just noticed a glitch, the bottom link doesn't work, but the top link does.

I think this is a wonderful addition to the site. Being able to comment on the articles here on SoM is also a great feature.

I saw the new section before I saw this thread. It has interesting information on it. I'm hoping this site is somehow linked to them so the viewers can review this site as well.

I was a little shock at first seeing the section, but I must say it's interesting and I like the new change. Thanks for adding it to the site.
