There are countless materials that can be used in Magic. Gathering a in-depth kit full of miscellanious items would be nigh impossible.

There are plenty of metals , herbs , incense ,crystals and the like one can use.

Frankly, do not bother with a kit of items. Just use what you have around the house. That is my take on it anyway.

If you still want a "kit", here are my suggestions: Sage, Chalk, Lighter, 4 suitable candles ,one Divination Tool, Clear Quartz, Altar Tools , Suitable Cloth.

MrCritic quite a number of practitioners have mentioned time and time again that true magick has nothing to do with props. They have said that magickal success has been achieved in the absence of props. Some have even went on to say that all magick is of the physical body of the magician.

I am aware of that. I almost never use these tools that I mentioned. I once did , but now , not really.

Magic has little to do with props. In fact , props such as gemstones and Candles and Ritual Tools can be entirely disregarded in many situations in my opinion.

But NewbieMagic was asking for a "Magic Kit"! A kit implies something that is physical , as you put it "Props" and something that is outside our being.

So, of course I suggested some for him to use. It's just that simple!

I'm not that experienced but personally I would stay away from any kind of crystal that is found when exploring because there is no way to tell if it is pure

I have one crystal that is pretty pure, you can't see any signs of rock in it, but I will take your word for it.

I can tell you all that is needed for witchcraft/magic.
A mixing bowl.
Some type of pestle and mortar. (Mine is made of polished granite.)
A pot for boiling liquid.
A knife for cutting herbs.
A couple of spoons.
That's it, nothing else. In old times, couple of candles. (For light, not for magic!)
In modern times we don't even need candles! We have electric light!
Also, in modern witchcraft, a microscope is a good thing to have!

I would suggest a pen and paper (sigils or spells can be written down) , maybe some white string (for knot magick).

For a small magical kit, I would definitely include a compass. They come in hugely handy. Birthday candles are of use, as is a lighter or matches :) A package of restaurant salt (You know those tiny packets?) comes in handy. For times you need something less conspicuous, a stone in the colours of the 4 directions are super handy.

Good luck! :)
