I disagree. My brother-in-law lives in his own little world and many Satanists I have met are like that. I think whether or not you think outside the box is more a matter of personality and thought-process then religion.
Angelus Elpis, that happens not because of the religion alone. That happens because of the people in power. The Jewish did the same as what Christians did to Pagans. It is all about power. It is human nature to try to control others.
Vari is right about that. The American government, governing the 'free' country, are doing the same. Look at some of our laws, they're only their for the feel of control the government gets.
That's my point Variados, it's all about the power. I hope you know what I'm trying to say, I'm not against any side. I just respect both Christians and Satanists who know what they are doing. There are ignorants on the both side and they prevail against those who know purposes of both religions. We cannot speak in the name of both sides cause we don't know their thinking.
And Ragnarok you cannot judge to other Satanists by looking at your brother in law.
I repeat: You follow the creator on the way you see Him.
I think what you are reffering to is people doing these horrible acts. Saying Christians did it is lumping them all into one catagory. It would be like saying all Satanist kill puppies and eat babies.
The problem with discussing religion of any kind, is that very rarely do people stop using generalizations and very rarely are they willing to put down their beliefs for a second to see another point of view.
Negative views of any kind reguarding other religions are always based on actions of a few, or fear of what one doesn't understand.
What happened back in the day was horrible, and I will never disagree that it was mainly due to coruption. But you are also speaking of a time when superstitions ran high ( my crop burned down, yours flourished..either god hates me or you did a spell ) when knowledge of other races and cultures ran low ( those in other continents were considered savages because they had not " evolved yet ).
What tickles me...is that even with all the information we have now available at our finger tips...many still cannot get past blatent ignorance. Many cannot get past the fear of considering their path is wrong simply to get an understanding of another side. Many cannot get past their programming to think outside their box.
It doesn't help that we have extremeist from all walks of life out there ready and able to stick to the sterotypes set forth, which fuels the fire for the other extremeists.
