depends really. elemental Dragons for example prefer different things [earth Dragons like gems, incense for air, seashells for water Dragons. i'm not 100% on fire Dragons, i don't work well with them, but in the past i would leave jalapenos when i called on them] your own guide you could ask them, otherwise ask yourself 'would i be happy with this?' if you thought about your offering [say you left some of your dinner for the Dragon] over grabbing the first thing you see [start to run out the door, realize you didn't get an offering today so you quickly grab a rock from outside] they'll be fine so long as you thought about it. [note, a rock is fine if you were walking along and saw an interesting rock you thought they would enjoy]
Dragons [like Deities] are all different. while there are offerings that are seen as 'preferred' by certain beings, as you grow closer you'll form a bond and learn more about them and what they like/don't like. personally, i would lite scented candles or incense for all elemental Dragons as well as my Guardian, the only difference is i choose the scent specifically for each individual Dragon.
lol, well there aren't many books written on the subject. it's primarily D.J. Conway [which isn't the best source but that's what we've got] but most information we get from the Dragons. [it's a very personal path] while i haven't read it you might wish to try Sea, Land, Sky: A Dragon Magick Grimoire by Parker J. Torrence. there's also an old website i use to read when i started that's still around [there were others but they've all disappeared]

thing is, most Dragon Mages keep to themselves and focus on their own journey. it is also a common held believe you don't give information to those who haven't been proven trustworthy [plus information is passed down verbally from the Dragons] so few write things down, and even fewer share. scary as it may seem, you should take the basic information you have and take the plunge. Dragons are wise, they'll reveal what you need to know when you need it.
T how do you make an offering? Do you just leave it on your altar for a while and take it back? If it's food, do you have to burn it? (I can't use for here)
If you don't mind can you tell me what gender is more common a male or a female or is it equal ? And, how do you know if dragon magick is right for you?
I would believe it would be equal chance gender wise. Well. It is hard to say. It usually calls out to you in one form or another. I found out while reading about it.
@ gluttonfree2 it depends on the offering. like with offering things to a deity you can offer anything you feel they would like. just place it on the altar and say a little something [Great Guide Dragon, please accept this piece of chicken as thanks] when you wish to dispose of it [i usually leave it for 24 hours] there's different options depending on what you gave. incense no big deal disposing of, a stone you could leave on the altar, food you could place outside, or throw in a fire if you wish. the energy is what they take, not the physical item.
@ Jaxies never really did a survey of the Dragons i've come across to be honest lol. does it really matter? it's pretty equal i think. i've met male and female, but mostly i never checked. when a Dragon visits my home i just feel their energy, when i project and visit them [or i'm meditating and speak with them] i don't actually hear their voice, but i get a sense or vision of my answer. so it's all energy. i am told you can tell by their horns, but i think that's just mythology and not real. either way gender doesn't really matter with Dragon Magick unless you want it to be. [like with Dianic Wicca they focus on female energy, so i suppose you could request to work with female Dragons only]
