If your talking about hybrid humans cross between human and anamal this has happend and is going on. There are goats with human cells wich make there blood and organs able to be used on humans. As far as playing god and createing new human like intellagent creatures we are hundreds of years from doing this with 100 percent controll of what it looks like what it can do and how advanced it looks. As far as human change shape shifting like a ware wolf if the world dosent destroy its self and science gets better id say 100 percent controll of this science would happen with in one thousand years.
A very interesting line of conclusions you have there. Although I am no biology major, your theory checks out from what I can find from my knowledge.
There are species that can "transform" (take butterflies for example), but this transformation is already encoded within their DNA. Humans lack this coding, and thus, a change in the structure of our DNA would be needed to complete such a task. And even then, the transformation in no where close instantaneous, it takes upwards of weeks.
If you take Lewis's approach then as he said, you will die a slow and painful death. The energy would simply just be too much at one time for a person's body to handle.
If by some other way you inserted a string of DNA into the original string during the cell replication process, you would then need to find the correct sequence of Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, & Thymine (The 4 main chemicals that are the essence of DNA) in order to "code" for such a mutation to occur. A feat that even science has yet to reach. (By my knowledge they can only change the DNA before the birth, correct? Not afterwards like it would require for an instant transformation.)
All in all, a good post. I would say your list is a good list to follow. Thank you for an informative read for a change.
The goat thing mentioned above is technically an organ cloning farm and the have done the same with rats and the human ear. While cloning a human is against the geneva convention it is entirerly possible to clone a person with the desired changes if you can get over the morality problems of wether the clone is a piece of property belonging to the cloner or not and then the religious debate as to wether it has a soul or not.
Hello, Im also a biology major (with a focus on Pre-Med). Ive developed a very similar theory. The main differences is that I also thought about what would happen in the nucleus wasnt destroyed/damaged. It would likely damage some of the safeguards in DNA replication such as P53 which likely would cause a horrible case a cancer. This is how skin cancer can work. The UV rays damage safeguards which allow DNA to start replicating out of control, causing cancer. Another big difference is time for death. Depending on the desired change, For example if you wanted to have scales, I believe the speed of death would be near instant (in this case the larger area causes quicker death due to a larger area being damaged). As cells undergo rapid death do to the side effects to such massive amounts of energy , as you have listed them (holes in the Cytoplasm or damaged nucleus), the organs would begin to shut down. If the happens in the heart or brain (or really any other important organ) death would be rapid. I agree with you that it would be horrible painful. All in all our theories are very similar.
Forgive me for the lack of order in this post, writing on phone. While i agree with you that just recklessly injecting a large amount of energy would destroy the cells, that doesn't have to be the only way to transform. In nature everything changes, that's natural. In theory, magick can be used to create specific changes to the genetic structure of the organism without it dying. I propose that perhaps instead of just injecting the energy in a manner which would obviously lead to death, it works similar to the DNA splicing tools of today, removing certain codes from the equation and replacing them with others to bring about the desired effect. Afterall, most of our body makeup is similar to that of other organisms and it would explain why in beliefs of transformation the person had to have something of the creature they wanted to transform into usually hair or blood, the person imitating certain parts of the organism's DNA. Now, is it actually possible? I don't know. This is because i've never bothered to try, yet. Anyways just wanted to raise up this possible theory.
I can agree in theory, but look at in in this light magusstar. gene splicing works only in single cell organisms or in embryos. this is because it can only change the cell it that is spliced. while this cell can reproduce and spread the new trait it will never manage to spread enough. It may actially lead to a change which makes the body determine that cell as a invader which would initiate a immune responce. another way not yet mentioned on this thread, using a modified retrovirus and gene therapy may work, but again it would be small changes at best. otherwise the body would see itself as an invader and kill itself. also there is no known way to do either of the above using magick (I wont say its impossible but it is very unlikely, still more research is alway good) There was a thread on the site titled DNA (I think) that went into alot of this.
True, the body might react in that way but I work with the belief that magick can do anything so i was thinking that it could "persuade" the body to accept the changes. The thing about theories is that they are not concrete. It would be better if someone with the scientific passion actually went out and tried to experiment to see if true or not.
on that I agree. nothing should be said to be impossible as we are human so how can we know what is or isnt possible. Still that being said it is extremly unlikey to work. If a team of experienced scientist or magick practitioners were to work on it than I believe everyone could benifit. sadly this must first get through those who reject the possibility both morally and by reason of doubt.
Cells have mutated in a sense they shift but those form as cancerous growths, not actual shapeshifting, in science one day it may be posible to make a human cell become something else successfully but I imagine it wouldn't work as cleanly or as fast as shapeshifting is portrayed, I studied genetics for a while and our DNA never changes externally things like plastic surgery, illness and injury are currently the only ways we can change physically. I have no clue how we could ever achieve fluid shapeshifting but maybe very very far in the future scientist could do it but no spell could do that sorry fluffies and nice theory Lewis
